The draw has been made for the new Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters, where players will be competing for a top prize that matches that of the World Championship.

144 players head to Riyadh for the first ever Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters with big money and ranking points on the line.

The tiered draw sees the lowest ranked players enter the fray at the start of the tournament on 30 August along with a string of local wildcards.

The format is then comparable to the World Championship and UK Championship, with higher-ranked players continuing to join the fray until the top 16 get involved in the fifth round.

Players coming in and losing at certain rounds will get the prize money on offer for losing at that point, but will not get that money on their rankings, so the pressure is on to win that opening match.

Especially with prize money set at this eye-watering level…

Winner: £500,000
Runner-up: £200,000
Semi-finals: £100,000
Quarter-finals: £50,000
Last 16: £30,000
Last 32: £20,000
Last 48: £11,000
Last 80: £7,000
Last 112: £4,000
Last 144: £2,000

There is not a further draw at the last 32 stage, as there is at the World and UK Championships, so the top 16 do know who they could and couldn’t face in their first matches.
