Hotels being used for the Democratic National Convention have reportedly been hit with bomb threats and anti-Semitic statements.

Police officers and dogs searched Nobu Hotel in Chicago – which is hosting the convention that will officially recognize Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee – shortly before noon on Tuesday, Fox 32 reported.

The threat stated that pipe bombs were put at Nobu Hotel and three others including the Hotel Chicago West Loop and Hyatt House Chicago in West Loop and the University District, reported Fox 32 political correspondent Paris Schutz.

Schutz shared a photo on X (formerly Twitter) of several cop cars around North Peoria Street.

Cops scouring the area did not immediately find suspicious objects.

The Chicago Police Department told the New York Post that ‘the US Secret Service is aware of threats made to various locations in the downtown area’ and that ‘law enforcement personnel are screening the affected areas and examining the credibility of the threat’.

The reported threats came hours before former President Barack Obama is expected to speak on the second day of the Democratic Party’s convention. Former First Lady Michelle Obama is confirmed to speak before her husband.

On the opening night of the convention, a tearful President Joe Biden delivered a farewell speech urging Americans to vote for Harris in order to protect democracy against her opponent, ex-President Donald Trump.

The reported bomb threats came as multiple protests have been ongoing around the convention.

On Tuesday, thousands of people marched blocks away from the convention site, voicing anger over the Biden administration’s support for Israel in the war in Gaza. They called for Harris to push for an end to the war.

Several anti-Israel demonstrators took down some of the security fencing outside the convention.

The convention is scheduled to culminate on Thursday with Harris’ address. On Wednesday, ex-President Bill Clinton and Harris’ vice presidential running mate, Tim Walz, are set to speak.
