Taylor Swift is wearing her heart on her sleeve as she powers through five nights at London’s Wembley Stadium for her globally successful Eras Tour, with the support of loved ones.
The US pop star, 34, delivered a tearful speech tonight during her second concert, having received a standing ovation and rapturous applause from the adoring crowd of Swifties.
It comes after Taylor made a triumphant return to the stage last night following the cancellation of her Vienna shows due to a foiled terror attack.
Taylor also hit the news when three young girls were killed by a knifeman at a dance class inspired by her music on July 29.
Having maintained a low profile for the last few weeks, Taylor made a strong comeback to the stage this week and while she didn’t address recent tragedies, the Grammy winner made sure to let everyone know how she was feeling.
On Friday night after singing Champagne Problems, the packed venue erupted into cheers and, as has become a tradition on the Eras Tour, continued applauding for several minutes.
Looking out at the sea of fans in amazement, Taylor was visibly overwhelmed.
She then expressed what it meant to her: ‘I guarantee my parents were just recording that on their phones.
‘So, anytime I’m having a sad or a bad day from now on, not only will I play the video in my mind, but I’m gonna revisit that moment a lot.’
‘Thank you so much for doing that for us,’ she added.
Reacting to the footage as it circulated online, one Taylor fan with the username lucysreputation wrote on X: ‘when im sad i watch her, when she’s sad she watches us’, followed by a crying emoji.
Swiftie hillary_lee_93 added: ‘petition to never let her have a sad or bad day ever again’.
Others said the moment left them in tears.
During Taylor’s first Wembley show – the final of which will mark the end of her Eras Tour European leg next week – she surprised fans by bringing out a very special guest.
While performing her surprise songs – which the songstress switches up each night, mashing up tunes from various albums to keep fans enthralled – she introduced Ed Sheeran to the stage.
Taylor and her longtime friend and collaborator performed a medley of their 2012 duet Everything Has Changed, End Game, plus Ed’s own song, Thinking Out Loud.
Taking to the audience about their bond, Taylor said with an arm around Ed: ‘This is one of my best friends in the world to the point where I feel like he’s a second brother of mine.
‘We toured together on the Red Tour. Every time I am doing the Red part of the show, I think about the memories that we made and now he is someone who plays Wembley, like, every week. This is regular for him!’
Continuing to sing the Bad Habits hitmaker’s praises, Taylor added: ‘He works so hard and he’s on tour right now, he’s probably so tired, but he wanted to come and play for you and do this for all of us.’
Taylor’s second lot of London tour shows comes amid reports that privately reached out to the Southport victims’ families before getting back on the road.
The Style hitmaker is said to have contacted the relatives of Bebe King, six, Alice Dasilva Aguiar, nine, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, before her first Wembley gig last night.
‘Taylor may not have spoken about Elsie Dot, Alice, and Bebe on stage but she has reached out to their families,’ an insider said.
‘It is something that has weighed heavily on her mind.’
In her initial statement shared in the aftermath of the tragedy, Taylor said she was at ‘a complete loss’, writing on social media: ‘The horror of yesterday’s attack in Southport is washing over me continuously, and I’m just completely in shock.
‘The loss of life and innocence and the horrendous trauma inflicted on everyone who was there, the families, the first response.
‘These were just little kids at a dance class. I am at a complete loss for how to ever convey my sympathies to these families.’
Just days later, horror rocked the Swiftie fanbase once more as Austrian police uncovered ISIS plans to kill thousands at her show and outside the venue, with three teenagers since arrested in connection.
Taylor has not commented publicly on the attempted attack but she was left ‘horrified’, as insiders said.
