Gary and Sarah in Coronation Street

Gary Windass (Mikey North) is to have to think on his feet in upcoming Coronation Street scenes after learning wife Maria (Samia Longchambon) could have caught him in an awkward situation with Sarah Barlow (Tina O’Brien).

Maria has installed a secret camera on the bookshelf in her Victoria Court apartment to help combat her fears for son Liam (Charlie Wrenshall).

The teen is currently being homeschooled after his parents discovered he was contemplating suicide.

His dark thoughts had been triggered after a tirade of abuse from Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) and Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne).

The camera has proved to be more of a hindrance than a help, as last week Maria ran out on a bridal party at the salon to check in on him.

This week we’ll see Liam announce that he’s ready to head back to school, but Maria refuses to listen to his plea and ends up in a row with Gary when she implies he doesn’t have an input as he isn’t his real son.

On the street, he gives ex-girlfriend Sarah a shoulder to cry on when she reveals it is Damon Hay’s (Ciaran Griffiths) sentencing day and in turn, he reveals Liam’s ordeal.

Inviting her back to the flat, Gary begins to tell her about Maria’s overprotective behaviour – unaware that she’s watching them from her phone via the cam.

When Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) calls to say that Damon has been handed a six year stretch as His Majesty’s Pleasure, Sarah breaks down and begins to cry into Gary’s arms – before making a drunken pass at her.

In next week’s episodes, after learning about the footage, he eyes Maria’s phone in an attempt to delete it.

Sarah is mortified to hear about the hidden device and he promises her that he’ll remove the recording.

Is it too late, or did Maria watch the entire situation unfold?
