Cain reeling in Emmerdale

Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) was noticeably taken aback in Emmerdale after Caleb Milligan (William Ash) publicly disowned him.

The much-loved mechanic, as viewers know, has been struggling to forgive long-lost brother Caleb following his affair with Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) last year.

Caleb, who wanted nothing more than to reconnect with the Dingles, has gone out of his way to make amends, particularly in respect to brother Cain, who he adores more than words can say.

Cain, however, has refused to budge, promising that he will never forgive Caleb for what he did.

Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly), who has her own grievances with the Dingles, decided to put her own feelings aside in a bid to reunite the warring siblings, knowing that it’s what Caleb wants more than anything.

Monday’s (April 8) hour-long edition of the ITV soap saw the matriarch kill her in-laws with kindness by purchasing various members of the clan air-fryers but Cain made it quite clear that they couldn’t be bought as he took a hammer to the items in question.

Ruby therefore turned her attention to Chas (Lucy Pargeter), who agreed to help her in getting Cain to come to her and Caleb’s anniversary drinks at the Woolpack.

Cain, however, wasn’t pleased at being strong-armed into doing something he didn’t want to as he yet again faced off with Caleb, making it quite clear he’ll never forgive him.

Ruby, however, reminded him that he’s not so sneaky clean, nor is any one of the Dingles and, with some words of encouragement from Chas, Charity (Emma Atkins) and Lydia (Karen Blick), Cain eventually agreed to have a drink with Caleb.

A spot of drunk karaoke – and a few home truths – however soon scuppered things, with Cain storming out of the Woolpack. Fed up of his school playground-esque behaviour, Caleb berated Cain and made it quite clear that, from here on out, he’ll leave him alone.

Cain, however, was clearly taken aback by such a statement. Has he pushed Caleb too far? Will he come to regret his decision? Will Caleb, for that matter?

Emmerdale continues Wednesday April 10 at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
