From Popeyes to Chipotle, London has no shortage of fast food chains that have made their way over from the US – and the list is still growing.

Another popular American offering has just set up shop in the capital, and this one sells something a little different from burgers and fries.

Founded in Detroit in 1959, Little Caesars has become the third biggest pizza chain in the States after Pizza Hut and Domino’s, and it’s just opened its doors in Greenford, west London, serving up some ‘hot-n-ready’ eats for the whole family.

For many, the best thing about the chain opening here will be that the pizza prices are pretty cheap — you could feed four people with a large pizza for just £5.

All of the pizzas on the menu are 12-inch sizes with toppings such as large pepperoni pizza (£5), large margherita (£5), large mushroom deluxe (£8), and Peri Peri Chicken (£10). Other items available include cheesy bread (£3.99) and new crazy puffs (£3.99) which are cups of freshly baked bread filled with pepperoni or vegetables, cheese and pizza sauce.

Customers can also make their meals a combo, adding various soft drinks and sides such as crazy bread sticks.

On the UK Little Caesars Instagram account, customers have hailed the food as ‘iconic’ and ‘amazing’, with others online saying the cheap pizza ‘tastes like heaven’.

Some also claim that the chain is ‘better than Domino’s’ and the crazy bread has been described as ‘fire’.

The new crazy puffs recently went viral after being launched in the US with fans desperate to try them after seeing photos of them all over social media. One review of them by @jinsakuu proclaimed them: ‘The best thing I’ve ever had LMFAOO.’

It’s not the first time Little Caesars has had branches here, as the chain used to be popular in the UK in the 80s. At one point it had 18 different sites across the country, but they all closed down in 2000.

The chain returned to the UK in 2022, opening up in Derby and it has since also launched a restaurant in Nottingham. The Greenford location is the only London restaurant at present, but more are already in the works.

Paula Vissing, the president of global retail for Little Caesars, said: ‘Londoners can now savour the delicious pizza offerings of Little Caesars as we proudly open our doors in the vibrant Greenford community.

‘Little Caesars is synonymous with quality, convenience, and affordability, which we think British consumers will appreciate.’

A second London store is already preparing to open later in 2024, as well as a branch in Liverpool.

The news comes after another popular US fast food chain, Popeyes, revealed it was switching up its menu and adding three new items in the UK.

The new offerings include the Buffalo Ranch Chicken Sandwich, Buffalo Saucin’ Wings, and a Louisiana BBQ Wrap.

McDonald’s is also making some big changes to its burgers, introducing a new way of cooking cheeseburgers, Quarter Pounders, and the iconic Big Mac.

The chain is altering the way they are grilled and the way they cook onions, as well as adding a new brioche bun into the mix. The storage of cheese and lettuce is also being switched up to give extra flavour and crunch to the items.

As Metro.co.uk’s specialist food writer, I got a sneak preview of the changes and agreed the new method of cooking really does ‘enhance’ the taste.

The new cooking method also makes the burgers seem less ‘bready’, instead the meat and cheese are the real stars of the show, packing more flavour in each mouthful.

The patties themselves are also slightly more beefy in terms of flavour, and the overall look, is definitely improved thanks to the shiny new glazed buns.

If you love a McDonald’s, I’d say you’re going to be pleased with the improvements they’ve made, but it does beg the question, why have we been putting up with substandard Maccies if it could have tasted like this all along?!
