When Josh Kerr realised it was cheaper to live in an all-inclusive Turkish resort than rent a flat in Manchester, he asked, ‘Why am I still in England?’

Rather than simply questioning his living situation, though, he has now officially made the move to the sunnier climes of Antalya.

After Josh’s original TikTok video was viewed more than a million times within a week, holiday company On The Beach challenged him to spend a month as a digital nomad.

The travel company sent him to the Turkish holiday spot this Saturday (February 17), with the five-star Port River Hotel and Spa serving as his new home for the next 28 days.

Escaping Blighty’s drizzle and cloud, the digital marketer has been enjoying clear skies and temperatures of 21°C, making the most of the weather in the hotel’s five pools and beach.

On The Beach is picking up the tab of £944 for Josh’s stay (which includes food and drink) as well as for expenses like rent and energy costs for his flat back in Manchester.

As he plans to work remotely while out there too, he’ll effectively make a profit on the getaway.

Josh said: ‘I can’t believe I’m actually doing it, I was sat around wondering if it would be cheaper to go all-inclusive abroad than live at home and it turns out it is – and now I’m actually going.’

Posting updates on TikTok, he told followers: ‘Thankfully my work allow me to work abroad so I’ll be joining Teams calls with the pool in the background.’

Josh also showed videos buying watches from sellers at the beach, sampling the local delicacy of raki, and soaking up some rays in the port town of Side.

‘No cleaning, no cooking, what more do you want?’ commented @dan76981, to which Josh replied: ‘Not sure I’ll want to come home.’

Zoe Harris, chief customer officer at On The Beach, added: ‘When we saw Josh’s TikTok showing how cheap it is to live in an all-inclusive for a month, we knew we had to challenge him to do it.

‘It’s a brilliant idea for anyone who can work from anywhere in their job. Pack your bags, list your flat or house on a rental site for a month to cover your mortgage or rent and instead live it up in the sun for a month, and you’ll still have saved money!’

It certainly seems preferable to the chilly winter and high cost of living we’re experiencing here, but it remains to be seen whether Josh will get sick of buffet meals after a few weeks,
