Dakota Johnson has admitted she didn’t enjoy her time on The Office US.

In 2013, the Madame Web and Fifty Shades of Grey star landed a small role in the finale of the iconic sitcom, which was based on Ricky Gervais’ influential BBC show, but it didn’t quite go to plan.

Although many of the Dunder Mifflin gang still have fond memories of their time working on the mockumentary, the same can’t be said for Dakota.

‘That was honestly the worst time of my life,’ she laughed reflecting on the experience on Late Night With Seth Meyers.

‘I love that show so much, and they were like, “Do you want to be in the series finale?” and I was like, “Of course,” thinking that I’d show up for, like, half a day.’

Instead, half a day became ‘two weeks’, as she quipped: ‘And I’m barely in the f***ing show!’

She had lines in just two scenes in the finale, as she joined the paper sellers after Rainn Wilson’s Dwight takes charge and fires Kevin (Brian Baumgartner), although she did appear in background shots throughout the episode.

As well as the unexpected time frame and not being all that prominent in the episode, Dakota also came into the show during its final moments after a decade on the air.

Seth asked her: ‘Wasn’t everybody super sad?’

‘They were sad,’ the AGE-year-old actress added. ‘And also, like, there were weird dynamics that had been going on for the last 10 years.’

As well as appearances from fellow guest stars like Rachael Harris and Joan Cusack, the emotional finale featured returning stars like Mindy Kaling, B.J. Novak and Steve Carrell.

‘Some people didn’t speak to each other, and I’m coming in like, “Hahaha, I’m so excited to be here,” and no one wanted to talk to me, nobody gave a f**k,’ Dakota said of the dynamic. ‘And I was like in the background of all of these scenes, faxing things.’

However, back in 2021 she hinted her accountant character was in line for a spinoff after the finale, while admitting she was against the idea.

She told The Hollywood Reporter: ‘If everything else just falls away, maybe you’ll find me in that Office spinoff that no one wants to watch. ‘I don’t know in what world that would’ve worked for me creatively.

‘I have found that when something is successful, even when there’s nothing left, they just keep trying to wring out the towel of story. Sometimes things need to end when they’re supposed to end.’
