Deciding on a spot for dinner in the capital can feel overwhelming – but it needn’t be anymore, as a list of London’s ‘most recommended restaurants’ for 2023 has been released.
And you can be rest-assured these places will deliver as the list is based on recommendations made by more than 600 chefs, food writers, restaurateurs and other experts in the World of Mouth guide.
Scooping first place is Mountain Beak Street, headed up by chef Tomos Parry, which takes inspiration from Spain’s tradition of simple wood-fired grills.
Hailed by restaurant aficionado Grace Dent as the reason ‘we put on shoes to go out to eat’, the critic praised this Soho spot as ‘buzzy’ and ‘delicious’ in her review.
Tomos’ other restaurant BRAT is also on the list in third place, but it’s St. JOHN Restaurant that takes second position.
Known for its nose to-tail-concept, St. JOHN Restaurant has numerous fan favourites such as bone marrow on toast and the Welsh rarebit.
Mexican restaurant KOL, in Marleybone, scoops fourth position, fusing Mexican classics with British produce.
Likewise, Ikoyi rounds off the top five with its marriage of West African-inspired flavours and British ingredients.
Elsewhere, The Clove Club, Kiln, and Core by Clare Smyth make up the rest of the rankings alongside Studio Frantzén and Lyle’s.
The list is part of the Global Culinary Report 2023, compiled by the World of Mouth guide, which also features the 10 Best Culinary Destinations around the world – and London ranks in number two, behind Copenhagen.
