Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) came across a man called Craig at the recruitment fair being held at The Hide in Thursday’s (August 17) Emmerdale.
It became apparent that Craig used to live at the same children’s home as Lydia. When he first laid eyes on her, Craig was thrilled to see his old friend again but Lydia was filled with anxiety and fear.
She attempted to leave but was stopped by Kim (Claire King). They chatted about Craig being curious over Lydia changing her name (she was previously called Jennifer Finn) and the fact he knew nothing about her baby.
In 2019, after a baby’s body was found on the grounds of Jessie Dingle’s school, Lydia was revealed to be the young boy’s mother.
Lydia gave birth to a stillborn baby when she was in a children’s home.
The truth came out after the police found the picture of Jennifer Finn, who ran away from a children’s home which used to be where the school is.
Lydia decided to bravely tell Craig about her past so they met up in the cafe for a coffee. Craig was looking forward to catching up with Lydia, but got the shock of his life when she revealed that she had given birth to his son.
Lydia detailed how she gave birth in the toilets of the home, discovered the baby was stillborn and tried to save him, but then chose to dig a small grave in the woods by her favourite tree and lay him to rest there.
Understandably, after everything she went through, recalling the traumatic event left Lydia incredibly upset. She got up and dashed out as Craig called her by her old name again.
But will we see Craig in the future as he tries to come to terms with this news?
