A teenager has been charged with murder after a woman was found dying at a home in Merseyside.

The 20-year-old was found with critical injuries inside a Northwood property at around 4.40pm on Friday.

She was still alive when paramedics arrived and taken to hospital but could not be revived.

Merseyside Police said the woman’s next of kin are being supported and a post mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of her death.

Liam Cain, 19, of Skipton Road, was arrested, charged with murder and remanded into custody to appear in court on Wednesday.

Detective Inspector Laura Lamping said: ‘Our thoughts first and foremost are with the victim’s family today.’

An investigation had been launched and a cordon is still in place on Quarry Green while extensive CCTV, house-to-house and forensic enquiries are carried out. 

DI Lamping added: ‘We are in the extremely early stages of this investigation.

‘Our enquiries continue in the area and we would appeal to anyone with any information on this tragic incident to please come forward and speak with our officers.

‘If you were on Quarry Green at around 4.40pm this afternoon and witnessed or heard anything suspicious, then please get in touch. Any information you hold could be vital to our enquiries.’
