A dog owner has been arrested after a mother and her two children were mauled after he allegedly attacked them.
A witness said they saw a woman and two boys covered in blood and bite marks after the incident in Derbyshire.
The mother, who is in her 20s, is said to have been assaulted by the man and bitten by the dog.
Her two sons suffered bite marks and a third boy was allegedly injured by the suspect.
The alleged attacker, who is also in his 20s, was arrested for assault, and coercive controlling behaviour as well as being in charge of a dangerously out of control dog.
The dogs, which a witness believed were Staffordshire Bull Terriers, were seized from the home in Ilkeston.
They said: ‘There were quite a lot of police cars and it looked really serious.
‘I think they had someone in the back of a police van but I couldn’t see much.’
Another added: ‘The police were next to the roundabout and they were there for quite a while. I can’t imagine how the people involved must have felt.’
Police said: ‘Officers were called to reports of an […] incident in Nottingham Road, Ilkeston, at around 6pm yesterday evening (12 August).
‘At the scene a woman in her 20s was found to have been assaulted and bitten by a dog – as well as two boys under the age of 16 who were also bitten by [sic] during the incident.
‘A third boy, also under the age of 16, was found to have been assaulted during the incident.
‘A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault, coercive and controlling behaviour, and being in charge of a dog that is dangerously out of control. He remains in police custody.
‘Four dogs were seized from the address and are now being cared for by a specialist kennels.
‘All four victims of the incident are receiving treatment for their injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.’
