The unique Snooker Shoot Out event gets underway on Thursday afternoon, with the chaos of the one-frame tournament running for four days.
Under the shot clock and with other rule variations, including ball-in-hand for a foul and balls having to hit a cushion or be potted on every shot.
Ryan Day is the defending champion, but no one has ever won this event more than once, although Michael Holt, Graeme Dott and Xiao Guodong have all been to two finals.
Day told WST ahead of his title defence: ‘I always look forward to the Shoot Out, I enjoy it. You can’t prepare for it, you just have to hope for a chance and try to pot the difficult balls. Playing fast suits me, I’m one of the players who sees the shots and the patterns of play quickly.’
