Judd Trump couldn’t get enough of the Alexandra Palace atmosphere after his 6-1 win over Kyren Wilson in the quarter-finals of the Masters, whipping the crowd up even after the final ball was potted.
The Ace looks to be getting back towards his best form, although he didn’t always need it here, in a comfortable win over the Warrior.
A high break of 76 shows that Trump wasn’t at the absolute peak of his powers, but he produced a couple of superb clearances to pinch frames and generally just had too much for Wilson who was below par.
Trump came through a memorable clash with Mark Allen, beating the Pistol 6-5, and now heads into the semi-finals against either Mark Selby or Barry Hawkins, which he cannot wait to start.
The 2019 champion is loving the rowdy, fun atmosphere in Alexandra Palace, and while he is often the showman on the table, he gave the crowd a rare glimpse of his showmanship with on the microphone as well after beating Wilson.
‘The crowd is just so good here, I wish every tournament was here,’ Trump said, before shouting: ‘Come on, baby! Yeah!
‘It’s incredible, it’s why I play the game. Just look at it, it’s absolutely unbelievable.
‘The reception Mark Williams and John Higgins had yesterday, and again today. I can’t wait to play out here again.’
Speaking to Eurosport after the match, Trump explained that missing last year’s Masters due to a positive Covid test has made this event priceless.
‘It’s just such a special atmosphere, it’s so special to be playing out there,’ he said.
‘Missing it last year was devastating for me. Coming here this year, just trying to enjoy myself a little bit more.
‘I feel more at home this year in the tournament. So pleased to be in the semi-final, a lot of great players still in and I can’t wait to play again.’
Selby and Hawkins meet on Friday night with the winner playing Trump on Saturday evening. Neil Robertson and Mark Williams play the first semi-final on Saturday afternoon.
