Warning: spoilers ahead for Loki episode 6.
As can be expected from a show centred on time-travelling mayhem, the Loki episode 6 finale delivered ultimate chaos to the MCU on Disney Plus.
Following on from WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, the events of Loki will undoubtedly have massive implications on Marvel films and TV shows after the events that transpired with Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) and ‘He Who Remains’ (Jonathan Majors).
At the end of the final Loki episode, the sacred timeline branches off into multiple different directions, leaving TVA agents Hunter B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku) and Mobius M Mobius (Owen Wilson) stumped.
The image of the timeline branching off uncontrollably seems to hint towards the multiverse of madness in the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel, which will see Benedict Cumberbatch reprise his role alongside Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch.
However, if we take a look back, the end of Loki may have answered a crucial question concerning the cliffhanger that occurs in the final moments of WandaVision.
In the WandaVision finale post-credits scene, Wanda is living in a remote cabin after taking down her Hex in Westview.
The Scarlet Witch is shown astral projecting while poring over the Darkhold, brushing up on everything the Book of Spells can teach her.
However, she’s startled when she hears her sons Billy and Tommy calling out for her, who seemingly ceased to exist when the Hex disappeared.
This most likely means that when Wanda returns in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, she will be on a mission to rescue her twin boys.
Just how Wanda was able to hear her sons remains a mystery.
However, one answer may be that they are from another timeline – which could indicate that when the timeline branches at the end of Loki, this is the exact moment that Wanda could hear their voices calling for her.
Several fans had the same idea, with one tweeting: ‘I just KNOW this is the moment Wanda heard Billy and Tommy through the multiverse.’
‘It all makes sense how Wanda heard Billy and Tommy at the end of Wandavision,’ another said.
Someone else wrote: ‘So this has to be when Wanda heard Billy and Tommy. Welcome to the multiverse of madness everyone.’
So, the consensus is that the multiverse is starting to make sense. Sort of.
With rumours circulating that Loki could also appear in the Doctor Strange sequel, it’ll be fascinating to see the ramifications of the series play out in the MCU.
Plus, with season two of Loki officially confirmed, Marvel fans know that whatever happens, they have plenty of bedlam coming their way.
