Musician Gregg Bissonette – who drummed on Friends – is still getting royalties from the sitcom, and our minds are blown.

The series ended way back in 2004, after a decade on our screens, but thanks to daily reruns and Netflix binge-watch sessions, it’s like it never ended.

Sort of.

And musician Gregg, who can be heard in every single episode of the show, revealed he is still picking up cheques more than 16 years later

Not too shabby.

Lifting the lid on his career in the iconic show, alongside his bother, the 61-year-old said: ‘It started when I was subbing for a great friend of mine, Doane Perry, on a Broadway album. The keyboard player was Michael Skloff and we really hit it off. He goes, “Hey, my wife is creating a show. If it happens, I want you to play drums.” Six months or a year later or something, I heard, “She’s got the show. Come on down and bring your brother.”

‘That was Friends. His wife was Marta Kauffman. That was 10 years. What a blast. We had a great guitar player. Michael would play keyboards. We didn’t do the theme song though. That was the Rembrandts. But we were on all 10 seasons. Say they’re on a couch and then they go to the bowling alley … [imitates drum sound]. If we liked a take, we’d all put our hands in the air like it was a touchdown. “Good take! Next one!”’

As well as being a musical underscore for some of the most iconic TV moments in history, Gregg is still earning money from it.

‘One of the great things about the Musician’s Union is they have two different checks that go out throughout the year,’ he continued to Rolling Stone. ‘One is for all of the albums that you’ve played on. It’s called the Phonograph Special Payments Fund.

‘The other is called the Motion Picture and TV Special Payments Fund. Friends is in syndication, so that’s always a huge part of my check. The union is on that.’

Friends isn’t the only soundtrack he has on his impressive CV, also working on The Devil Wears Prada, American Pie and Finding Nemo.

Gregg first came to fame as a member of David Lee Roth’s original solo band, a move which sparked a career playing with some of the biggest names of all time.

The musician has drummed alongside Spinal Tap, Duran Duran, Ozzy Osbourne and even Robert Downey Jr.

He has also played in Beatles legend Ringo Starr’s All Starr Band since 2008 and has toured with the Let It Be star countless times.

Seriously, where does he find the time?!
