Miser, who was charged with animal cruelty on June 22, is said to have called his girlfriend on June 5 to tell her he was about to ‘Beat the (expletive) out of that dog’ and that he had already ‘kicked the (expletive) out of that dog.’
Miser’s girlfriend, who was on an errand when he phoned, called animal control officers after the call.
On arriving at their home they found Gracie comatose, covered in bruises and with a swollen abdomen. Gracie was rushed to a veterinarian, where she was also found to have suffered internal bleeding as well as injuries to her spleen, intestines and liver.
Attempts to save Gracie proved unsuccessful, with the injuries to her liver later determined to have killed her. When questioned, Miser claimed his girlfriend’s pet had bitten him while he was playing with another dog, and showed investigators two small bite marks on his hand.
