Singer Kacey Musgraves is still on a high after her Grammy award win, and in an exciting turn of events she is set to present at the Oscars, joining other A list presenters.
After Kevin Kart stepped down from hosting the Oscars after a string of alleged homophobic tweets, the Academy decided rather than replace him, to get a list of celebs to present different segments of the show.
Musgraves joins previously-announced presenters, including Amandla Stenberg, Tessa Thompson, Chris Evans, Awkwafina, Amy Poehler, Chadwick Boseman, Emilia Clarke and Jason Mamoa, to name a few out of a rather extensive (and sparkly) list.
J-Lo seemed thrilled at the news as she told her fans on Twitter: ‘SO excited to be presenting at the 91st #Oscars Make sure to tune in on Feb. 24!’
It is unclear which category Musgraves will announce, but Variety reports it is likely to be one of the two music awards – either best original song or best original score.
Musgraves won big at the Grammys earlier this month, taking home the prestigious best album. The 30-year-old was visibly stunned to learn she beat out the likes of Childish Gambino, Drake, Janelle Monae and the Black Panther soundtrack.
The Oscars gig is the cherry on top of a very delicious cake.
It comes after comedian Kevin announced he’d be stepping down from presenting, telling his 34.9 Twitter followers back in December: ‘I have made the choice to step down from hosting this year’s Oscar’s…
‘This is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists. [sic]’
He added: ‘I sincerely apologise to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past.’
The actor was supposed to host the renowned evening but found himself in deep water after fans unearthed homophobic tweets from 2010.
