Metro.co.uk and record label Killing Moon pick out the new artists you should listen to today.

Glass Peaks sound like: the last 10 years never happened, and the indie-disco scene we found ourselves entrenched in is still very much alive and well.

Similar artists: Foals, Bloc Party, The Maccabees, White Lies

Their story: Glass Peaks are four chums from Bexley in Kent who formed around about a year ago over their mutual love of all things melodic and alternative. And guitars, of course.

They’ve quickly risen up the BBC Introducing ranks in Kent and have two single releases under their belt, the latest of which (Speak and Spell) earned the band their first national radio play from BBC Radio 1’s Phil Taggart.

They sold out their single launch show in London.

Their sound is influenced by things as wide as Joy Division and Ben Howard, although the band are determined to put their own personal stamp on their sound as their career progresses.

What’s so great about them: Glass Peaks are arriving into the music industry with the confidence of youth.

Taking the DIY indie ethic very much to heart, they’ve got a promising career without big label marketing budgets.

Their ambitious attitude adds to murmurs that they could be one of this year’s breakthrough British indie bands.

What will they be doing in 2017? Largely playing lots and lots of live shows around the country – the band have announced details of their biggest UK headline tour to date which kicks off in March.

Beyond that, we prophesy that there will be further single releases (or possibly an album or EP) to keep up the momentum they have gained on their recent single release.
