Anthea (Charlotte Gregg) is 25, single and hates her job. Her friends have left Brisbane or are in relationships and she only has best mate Michael (Matt Zeremes) for company. He, however, seems more interested in ex-girlfriend Stephanie (Sarah Kennedy) and new squeeze Simone (Romany Lee). Directed by Louise Alston and adapted from a play by writer Stephen Vagg, All My Friends Are Leaving Brisbane stars a cast of virtual unknowns and was shot on a shoestring budget.
The 2007 comedy clearly strikes a chord with its viewers though; it won the Audience Choice Award at the Barbican’s London Australian Film Festival in March and screens at The Showroom as part of the showcase’s tour.
