Recently, the Net0 team had the pleasure of attending the launch and training of ASHRAE Standard 241 at the "Advancing Indoor Air Quality and Energy Efficiency: Exploring ASHRAE Standards 241 & 62.1 in the UAE" conference, organized by the MOEIUAE 💡 This standard focuses on mitigating 𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐬, offering a practical approach to healthier indoor spaces while balancing energy efficiency. 🌬️ Here are the key technical takeaways from the session: 🦠 Targeted Airborne Risk Reduction: 👉 ASHRAE 241 establishes clear guidance for reducing exposure to airborne infectious aerosols in various building types, enhancing safety in high-occupancy spaces like offices, schools, and healthcare facilities. 🌪️ Air Cleaning and Ventilation: 👉 The standard emphasizes the importance of clean, recirculated air through filtration systems (MERV 13+) and advanced air-cleaning technologies, such as UV-C disinfection. This reduces the reliance on outside air intake, addressing both IAQ and energy concerns. 📊 Minimum Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR): 👉 Defines benchmarks for "equivalent clean air," which combines outdoor air, filtered recirculated air, and mechanically cleaned air to meet performance requirements. ⚡ Energy Efficiency Alignment: 👉 With outside air handling units consuming up to 40% of HVAC energy loads, the standard encourages optimized ventilation and filtration to ensure buildings meet IAQ targets without compromising energy goals. 🛠️ Practical Implementation and Training: 👉 Building operators, engineers, and regulators must collaborate to translate these guidelines into practice. Training on proper sensor monitoring, system diagnostics, and regular maintenance schedules will bridge the gap between design intent and operational efficiency. 💰 A Real ROI Impact: 👉 A study by the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) shows that for every $1 invested in improving IAQ, businesses can see returns of up to $47 in productivity and health benefits. The session underlined that enforcing IAQ standards, supported by technology and proper training, isn’t a cost - it’s an investment 🫰 At Net0, we’re excited to see how Standard 241 will reshape the future of healthy and energy-efficient buildings, particularly in regions with unique climate challenges like the UAE 🇦🇪 #ASHRAE241 #IndoorAirQuality #Sustainability #EnergyEfficiency #HealthyBuildings #UAEInnovation #Net0 #Net0Dubai

🌍 Last week, Sofia Fominova and Anastasia K. from Net0 attended the MENA Climate Proof Forum, where it was clear that aligning on sustainable finance, public-private collaboration, and innovative frameworks is essential to our collective climate action goals. 💡 Key takeaways from leaders in policy, finance, and sustainability include: ▶ Urbanization & Climate Action as Global Megatrends:  Rapid urbanization and environmental resilience are twin imperatives. As urban populations grow, they demand improved living standards, efficient services, and sustainable solutions to climate risks. ▶ Essential Public-Private Alignment:  Success hinges on effective coordination and shared goals between governments and the private sector. Clear policies, incentives, and risk-sharing mechanisms from public entities foster an ecosystem where private investment in sustainability can flourish. ▶ Innovative Finance Models:  Leaders emphasized the need for creative solutions like blended financing and green bonds. These tools help reduce financial risk, making it feasible for private entities to engage in long-term sustainability projects, especially in emerging markets. ▶ ESG Integration as a Core Strategy:  The Climate Proof Forum highlighted that ESG is more than a compliance framework—it's a strategic imperative. Companies integrating ESG are not only adapting better to new regulations but are securing a competitive edge and building resilience. ▶ Redesigning Subsidies for Lasting Impact:  Speakers called for governments to reallocate traditional subsidies toward sustainable finance, creating accessible and scalable financing options for climate initiatives. ▶ Human-Centric Design in Sustainability:  Climate solutions must consider human impact alongside environmental and economic metrics. From indigenous knowledge to participatory urban planning, community-driven approaches are essential for sustainable outcomes. ✨ Highlight: Mashreq brought invaluable insights into the forum, sharing its commitment to sustainable finance through advanced ESG strategies, public-private partnerships, and human-centric investment priorities. Their insights resonate strongly with the need for robust public-private partnerships and agile financing structures to address about $4.8 trillion annual investment gap needed to meet climate goals.
