How to get and maximize the first 1000 users for your app ( this is what we are doing with @sentinotes and it is working! ): - Start marketing the minute development release the first stable build ( approx 3 months before release ) - Identify why you need 1000 people and how they will help you grow - Launch a landing page that clearly outlines WHY you are building this and for WHOM - Treat your first 1K users as pioneers - You and they know they are likely to encounter issues so incentivize this early adoption - Early adopters help you shape the product, lean into this narrative - Create perks for early adopters such as free/discounted access, and unique features exclusive to them - Make sure your WHY aligns with their pain points in life - A combination of landing page email signups + social media ads works well - Deploy 3-5 ad variants across ALL socials initially. figure out which one works best, get rid of the rest - Target specific geographic area first - Make your targeting as precise as possible ( your ideal reach should be under 1M ) the smaller the better - Personally invite some writers, journalists, influencers, and leaders in the space for early access - Personally onboard them! These are the guys that have access and command a bigger audience so incentivize them to become representatives of your product - As you are entering the final stages of QA identify the rollout plan - DO NOT roll out to all 1000 of them simultaneously. segment em out! - identify the first 25 people, those are the most forgiving bunch, and ask them to test it out, fix bugs listen to feedback - invite the next 50 and repeat the cycle - when the product is steady and works well personally onboard the influencers and media - invite the next 250 repeats these should be your daily intended users in the QA cycle - invite the remaining folks to repeat the cycle - after people sign up and are ready to try the app invite them to a private community ( slack, discord, circles ) give them access to you, and your team, listen to their feedback - vote on new features, vote on big fixes, and help them feel invited and heard - grow a community that speaks about the pain points this product aims to solve, grow the community side by side - incentivize early adopters to help you onboard new customers - if the app is complex figure out a way to let early adopters monetize themselves ( i.e. they can become trained and licensed pros of the app that can charge money to produce content and educate others on how to use it ) - be ready for a lot of manual onboarding, repetitive tasks - implement fixes and feedback fast! - try to get on podcasts, interviews, and talks to promote the product
