ACWA Power has signed an MOU with Tunisia's government to boost green hydrogen production. This landmark agreement, signed by Minister Fatma Thabet Chiboub and ACWA Power CEO Marco ARCELLI, aims to produce 600,000 tons of green hydrogen annually, primarily for export to Europe. The project will develop 12 GW of renewable energy, including storage, transmission, a desalination plant, and electrolyzers. The first phase will generate 200,000 tons of green hydrogen per year, exported via the SoutH2 Corridor. Tunisia targets 8.3 million tons of green hydrogen annually by 2050, leveraging its strategic location and infrastructure for economic growth and sustainability. #AEW2024 Panel Highlights Gas as Catalyst for Africa’s Industrialization   A panel session at this year’s #AfricanEnergyWeek (#AEW): Invest in African Energies 2024 conference explored the advantages gas brings to the continent as well as its contribution to reducing emissions and attracting investment. With an estimated 625 trillion cubic feet of natural gas reserves throughout Africa, attracting investment in the sector will be critical for industrial development while helping meet the continent’s growing energy needs. International partnerships, joint ventures and technology transfers are poised to play a vital role in driving this strategy forward. During the panel session, it was noted that while Africa’s natural gas industry offers tremendous potential, the continent faces several key obstacles. The Republic of Congo’s (RoC) Ministry of Hydrocarbons will hold a press conference on November 4 in Cape Town during African Energy Week (AEW), to announce the first-ever Congo Energy & Investment Forum (CEIF), from 26-27 March 26-27, in Brazzaville. This forum aims to establish RoC as a major player in Africa's energy sector, showcasing significant investment opportunities. Earlier this month, Chinese manufacturer Astronergy Solar secured contracts to supply solar modules for six major projects in Algeria, including the 220 MW Biskra plant. Once completed, the Biskra plant will generate 400 million kWh of clean energy annually, reducing carbon emissions by 330,000 tons. The initiative is part of Algeria’s solar construction plan led by state-owned utility sonelgaz which aims to build 15 solar plants across 12 provinces. The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) board has approved a Côte d’Ivoire Regional Compact to boost energy trade and strengthen the electrical grid! MCC and the Government of Côte d’Ivoire developed a regional power compact to increase the net quantity of energy Côte d’Ivoire trades on the regional electricity market and help strengthen regional energy security within West Africa. The compact will also upgrade Côte d’Ivoire’s electrical grid. A significant step towards green transition. Today, in the Presence of H.E Dr. Mostafa Madbouly Egyptian Prime Minister, TAQA Arabia along with its partner Voltalia, sign an MoU with the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy Represented by the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) and the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) to study and explore the development of a pioneering 3.2 GW (solar / wind) power plant in Suez Governorate repowering Zafarana wind farm. Originally commissioned by the Government of Egypt two decades ago, the Zafarana 545-megawatt wind farms were the first of their kind in the MENA region and a milestone in Egypt’s renewable energy journey. As the wind turbines will soon approach the end of their operational lives, a new strategy is needed to repower the site. This strategic partnership entails conducting preliminary technical and environmental measurements and studies to establish a fully integrated green power facility in Zaafrana. The plant will combine 1.1 GW of wind power with 2.1 GW of solar power, making it the first project in Egypt to merge both renewable energy sources. #RenewableEnergy #GreenEnergy #Sustainability #FutureofEnergy

Not as an Energy Minister of Ghana, but a sustainable energy analyst who see's clean cook stoves as a mechanism for saving lives (4 million people die every year from smoke during cooking) and reducing the amount of CO2 produced in burning wood fuels during cooking.
