The National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM) was established on 17 August 2005 by the merger of the Bureau of Research and Mining Participations (BRPM) and the National Office for Research and Petroleum Explorations (ONAREP). Since their inception in 1928 for the BRPM and in 1981 for the ONAREP, these two organizations have been pioneers and leaders in Morocco in their respective fields, and have benefited from a high reputation among international operators. ONHYM is a public institution with legal personality and financial autonomy. The Office is subject to the State supervision, which is to ensure compliance by the competent bodies of the Office of the provisions of the law 33-01. Missions • Lead research, exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbon or mine fields, except the phosphates; • Promote any action that would contribute to the development of the exploration and the exploitation of hydrocarbons and mineral substances, especially in the frame of a partnership with private sector; • Elaborate and make accessible database on national subsoil mineral and hydrocarbon potential and on administrative, financial and legal devices of the country; • Negotiate the terms and conditions of different joint agreements, cooperation or partnership. Strategy • Develop effective promotion to attract investment in the Mines and Hydrocarbon sectors • Develop excellence in exploration for promotion • Develop fundraising and public /private partnership (PPP) to intensify exploration projects • Optimize portfolio performance in Mines and HC assets Values • Technical excellence; • Contribution to sustainable development; • International opening dynamic; • Managerial performance.

🌍 ONHYM’s Participation in the 5th Regional Workshop on the BBNJ Agreement. ONHYM, represented by Mr. Salim Lahsini and Mr. Mohammed Magoua, is taking part in the 5th Regional Workshop on the BBNJ Agreement (Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction), held from December 16 to 20 in Rabat, Morocco. Organized by the Government of Morocco and co-funded by the European Union, this major event brings together over 120 participants, including representatives from Atlantic and Mediterranean coastal African states, landlocked countries, as well as global, regional, and sub-regional organizations, and civil society. ONHYM at the Burundi Roundtable. Representing Morocco as part of a national delegation, ONHYM participated in the roundtable on "Mobilizing Financing for the Vision Burundi 2040–2060," held on December 5–6, 2024, in Bujumbura. Mr. Khalid Amrouch (PhD) , Director of Mining Asset Management and Promotion, showcased Morocco’s expertise in mineral exploration and development. He emphasized ONHYM’s pivotal role as a driver of underground resource development through investment promotion and strategic public-private partnerships. 10 décembre 2024 : Visite à l’ONHYM d’une délégation du Malawi L’ONHYM a reçu une importante délégation présidée par M. Benjamin Casey Wandawanda, Conseiller Principal du Président pour l’Investissement et les Affaires et composée de plusieurs hauts responsables du secteur public et privé du Malawi. Les entretiens ont porté sur les opportunités d’investissement et de coopération entre l’ONHYM et les sociétés malawites dans le domaine des hydrocarbures et des mines, notamment en matière de renforcement des capacités et d’échange d’expertise.
