The High Commission for Planning (HCP) has revealed that Moroccan Darija is the most widely spoken language variation in Morocco, with 91.9% of the population using it. Tamazight follows with 24.8%, while Hassaniya is spoken by only 0.8%.  These findings are part of the detailed results from the 2024 General Census of Population and Housing (RGPH) conducted in September. The data also highlights a significant rise in the population's proficiency in foreign languages, particularly French and English.

Chinese e-commerce powerhouse Alibaba has officially established its presence in Morocco, announcing the expansion during a joint event with ASMEX and AMDIE in Casablanca on Wednesday. Moroccan airline Royal Air Maroc (RAM) will restart its direct flights between Casablanca and Beijing on January 20, 2025, after being suspended since 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To mark this occasion, RAM signed 16 agreements with major Chinese travel agencies during a ceremony in Beijing on Wednesday evening. The partnerships aim to secure long-term seat allocations on these flights, as well as strengthen partnerships with Chinese travel agencies and ensure a high occupancy rate for the Casablanca-Beijing route, said RAM in a press release. The agreements were signed by Abderrahman Brahimi, RAM’s Director for Morocco, Maghreb, Middle East, and Asia, and Adil Khalloufi, RAM’s representative in China. UM6P launched today in Casablanca “The Forge”, is a new program to help founders turn ideas into successful businesses. The program will start in March 2025 and is based at StartGate, UM6P’s innovation hub in Benguerir. It will run for nine to 12 months and is open to founders from Morocco, Africa, and beyond.
