Specials for the Christmas season - Cognac selected by Lafite Rothschild & Eaux-de-Vie de Mouton Rothschild Baron Eric de Rothschild once decided to build up a small reserve of cognac for his family and close friends. To do so, he chose to work with Maison Maxime Trijol, a historic cognac family who for several generations have been cultivating their own vines alongside the distillation and ageing process. This partnership continues to this day, much to the delight of lovers of very old cognac. Mouton Rothschild’s Eau-de-Vie de Prunes and Eau-de-Vie de Vin bear witness to an ancestral tradition honored by Baron Philippe De Rothschild (1902-1988). These creations, kept confidential, were unveiled at private receptions at the Château, where they were offered to guests at private receptions. Château Suduiraut PUR SÉMILLON Grand Vin Blanc Sec is made from their prestigious Premier Cru Classé terroir of Sauternes. This wine is produced from a small parcel planted with Semillon vines, on average 55 years old, specifically identified depending on the vintage to reveal the best of this typical grape variety of Sauternes. It offers aromas of fruit and white flowers, with great elegance and smoothness on the palate. Château Suduiraut Pur Sémillon 2023 reveals a slightly golden yellow color. The nose opens with notes of wood, toasted hazelnut, and sweet spices, followed by aromas of yellow fruit, William pear and white pepper. After a powerful attack, the palate is full-bodied and fleshy, supported by a spicy freshness of pepper and chili. The finish is rich and woody, with the noble bitterness typical of this grape variety. Knowledge of the past is valuable in helping us to understand the property's current reputation. The oldest document mentioning Latour dates from 1331. Through inheritances ans successive marriages, Latour became the property of Alexandre de Ségur, who was nicknamed the Prince of Vines by Louis XV. The Château's real wine history began with the arrival of this family. In june 1993, Mr François Pinault bought the Allied Lyon's skate via his holding company Artémis. Château Latour thus became French again, after thirty years of British control. NEW RELEASE - LA CHAPELLE HERMITAGE 2022 La Chapelle, whose vines have been planted on the Hermitage hill side for centuries, has built its reputation on the excellence of its wine and its legendary setting. For a legend to be born, you need a knight! It was in 1224 that the knight Henri-Gaspard de Sterimberg, back from the Crusades, established himself as a hermit on the hill and built a small chapel. He planted a few Syrah vines there, a cross between a grape variety from the Ardèche, Dureza, and a Savoyard variety, Mondeuse blanche. It is only here that Syrah finds its most natural terroir of expression and can enable wines to achieve such longevity.
