Per Diem Driver
NILP is a rapidly growing, human service agency who assists persons with all types of disabilities who wish to live independently in their community throughout Northeast Massachusetts.
NILP provides five core services of Advocacy, Peer Counseling, Information and Referral, Independent Living Skills Training, and Transition.

(NILP) is looking for a per diem lift-equipped van driver.
The van transports People with disabilities to the NILP, partners, (other locales) and to various activities of Independent Living (IL) in Lawrence and surrounding areas.
The driver must have a Class D license.
The van runs Monday through Friday.
Generally, advance notice would be given for days and hours needed.
What you will be doing:
The purposes of this position are to be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our passenger van to transport seniors and disabled persons to Peer Counseling groups, medical appointments, shopping, and various locations as part of the NILP's Mini-Bus Service.
A van driver is responsible for maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction and control.
• Depending upon the physical capacity of individuals, welcomes passengers from the van to their front door; assures passengers safely board the van, are seated and secured; transports participants to various activities such as food shopping, doctor's appointments, special programs, to the Senior Center, etc.
• On a periodic basis, operates and checks vehicle, insures vehicle is serviced, maintained; • Assists Participants into and out of the Mini-bus; assists them with their packages, assists them into their home or other location • Operates wheel chair equipment on Mini-bus to load clients safely into the vehicle.
• Maintains a daily log of passengers picked up and dropped off and stop locations.
• Handles passenger emergencies that may arise; completes accident or injury reports, as required.
Who we are looking for:
• Must have a High School Diploma or GED and more than 1 year of driving experience.
• Must have Valid Massachusetts Class D Driver's License, and acceptable driving record.
• Must meet background check requirements, including a CORI and driving record.
• Must have and maintain CPR certification (Company will train).
• Thorough knowledge of the safe practices of driving a van with passengers; Knowledge of basic emergency services to assist passengers; basic knowledge of vehicle periodic maintenance to know when vehicle repairs and servicing are needed.
• Ability to follow written and oral instruction and work efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision.
• Flexibility- some night and weekend work may be required.
