The Resident Director lives in an apartment in the residence hall that they supervise.
Job Summary The Resident Director at the University of Kentucky’s Office of Residence Life is critical in our undergraduate housing communities’ day-to-day operations and strategic direction toward fostering students’ well-being and success.
The Resident Director will live full-time on campus in a furnished apartment provided by the university, allowing the position to encompass many responsibilities to promote a supportive, welcoming, and dynamic residential experience.
Key duties include: Utilizing our innovative residential curriculum, The Wildcat Way, to develop and implement academic, well-being, and social programming that aligns with our core values and mission, fostering a sense of belonging and community among residents.
Supervise and mentor resident advisors and other residential staff to ensure they effectively support residential students.
Administering residence hall operations, including front desk operations, maintenance requests, and housing assignments, to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
Serve on departmental task forces and committees and in an on-call rotation for your campus area.
Serving as a primary liaison with key partners in the Dean of Students area and with Student Success staff regarding residential students’ needs.
Manage crisis response and conflict resolution within the residential community, ensuring student concerns are addressed compassionately and efficiently.
This role is crucial for cultivating a vibrant living-learning environment where every student feels acknowledged and equipped to thrive.
