🌟 Day 5: Diving into Memory Management with CS50 🌟 Today, I continued my journey through Harvard University's CS50 Introduction to Computer Science course, led by the incredible Professor David J. Malan. This session marked the beginning of Week 4: Memory, where we delved into the fascinating world of pointers and memory allocation. Key takeaways from today's lecture: - Pointers & Memory Allocation: We explored the intricacies of pointers and how to manage memory effectively using `malloc()` and `free()`. Understanding how memory is allocated and deallocated is crucial for writing efficient code. - File Pointers & Hexadecimal: The lecture also covered file pointers and hexadecimal representation, which are essential for handling data at a low level in C. - Dynamic Allocation: We learned about dynamic memory allocation and how it allows programs to handle data of varying sizes during runtime. The examples provided were both visual and code-based, making complex concepts much more digestible. It’s amazing to see how these fundamental concepts underpin so much of what we do in programming! A new Journal paper has been published in Computing Journal (Q1 with IF 3.7) published by Springer Nature Group, with Dr Lamis Al-Qora'n, PhD. and Ahmad Zayed. https://lnkd.in/ewScijRx In this paper, we are looking to apply chaos engineering scenarios to cloud-native applications. The study introduced two native fault injection techniques and empirically provided analysis of real-world scenarios. The results showed a reduction in performance and an increase in latency with injecting delays. However, faults and availability problems appeared at a particular delay, highlighting the importance of using chaos engineering to assess the dependability of cloud-native applications and find unpredicted failures. I had the privilege of attending the 25th WISE (Web Information Syestems Engineering) conference at the University of Qatar. Dr. Ahmed Elmagarmid's keynote on "AI Beyond the Hype" was truly enlightening. Here are the key takeaways: - AI's Rapid Evolution: AI is reshaping our world at an unprecedented pace. - The Power of LLMs: While Large Language Models (LLMs) are impressive, smaller, specialized models can often be more effective. - The Arabic Data Challenge: The scarcity of high-quality Arabic data is a significant hurdle. - Ethical AI: There's a pressing need for LLMs that consider cultural and religious nuances in their responses. - The Inescapable Bias: Bias is inherent in text, making it a complex issue to address. - Fanar: A New Dawn for Arabic Gen AI. I had the opportunity to appear on #Daily_Debate program on #NileTV International on July 17, to discuss a critical topic in the world of technology: #AI_governance and its role in bringing AI applications to fruition. During the interview, I emphasized that as #artificial_intelligence becomes increasingly integrated into our daily lives and various industries, proper governance frameworks are essential.
