*MEDICAL ASSISTANT*
JOB DESCRIPTION
*Job Summary:* Under immediate supervision, supports provider (physician) in provision of patient care; includes recording vital signs, discussing chief health concerns, performing testing, and administering injections; assists with procedures, calling patients and documentation.
*CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES *may include any and/or all of the following:
1.
Assists with providing patient care: records vital signs; discusses and records chief health concerns; performs tests; administers injections; assist with sterile procedures; ensure labs (any documentation or the reason why they are returning, specialist, etc.
) are in the chart.
2.
Draw in office labs, urine testing
3.
Send labs and cultures to appropriate destinations.
4.
Check basket in the physician’s office at the beginning of the day.
5.
Complete charts for the day and include labs and testing; print schedules for the day
6.
Fill sanitation bucket daily; ensure items in autoclave are cleaned and put away daily
7.
Complete all papers in basket (to do, fax, and scan) before leaving for the day (Nurse A: patients A – L; Nurse B: patients M – Z)
8.
Complete all nurse visits (Dx codes and charges) before leaving for the day.
9.
Complete patient Rx refills daily.
10.
Contact patients with results and/or additional information from physician.
11.
Check temp logs on fridge and freezer daily.
12.
Every Thursday afternoon ensure all rooms are fully stocked with everything needed for patient care.
13.
Maintain a neat working area by cleaning weekly and following the employee office cleaning schedule posted in the breakroom
14.
Complete inventory every Thursday (Immunizations and Supplies); Nurse A: state vaccines; Nurse B: Dr.
Gordon vaccines
15.
Maintain sample closet (removing any expired or damaged samples).
16.
Complete prior authorizations as needed
17.
Perform other assigned duties; to include covering shifts as needed on off days

*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS*
*Education and experience equivalent to: *High school diploma or equivalent, plus one (1) year of technical training (CMA); with one (1) year of related work experience.
