🌊 LG Chem is shaping a sustainable marine ecosystem. To reduce the barren ground phenomenon and protect marine ecosystems, LG Chem launched a seagrass habitat restoration project in 2023 at the waters near our Yeosu site in South Korea. By planting seagrass in the open spaces between existing colonies, we helped create connected seagrass meadows. As a result, the transplanted seagrass did not wither or die but expanded naturally alongside the native seagrass. In addition, the biodiversity in the seagrass habitats has significantly increased—from 17 species at the end of last year to 56 species by June this year. Notably, we even observed a seahorse, a protected marine species sensitive to water quality, indicating the positive impact of our restoration efforts. Beginning this year, LG Chem’s #CNT conductive additives are being supplied to major Japanese companies for use in their hybrid vehicles.
