We were greatly honored to welcome H.R.H. Prince Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdulazia Al Saud, Minister of National Guard of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and his distinguished delegates at a ROK Army firing range on November 5. During the live-fire demonstration attended by the KSA Ministry of National Guard delegation and ROK MND and DAPA delegates, a variety of Hanwha's combat platforms such as K9 self-propelled howitzers, K21 infantry fighting vehicles, K30 Biho air defense systems, and K30W Chunho anti-aircraft gun wheeled vehicles showcased outstanding performances. On November 1, we were greatly honored to have a group of retired commanding generals from the ROK and U.S. military visit Hanwha Aerospace Plant 3 in Changwon. The visit was organized by Korea Defense Veterans Association and Korea-U.S. Alliance Foundation. The delegates included former CFC/USFK/UNC commanders such as Gen. Curtis M. Scaparrotti; Gen. Walter L. Sharp, and Gen. Robert B. Abrams. The four-star American generals were impressed with Hanwha's vibrant production lines of advanced artillery systems like K9, meeting large amounts of international orders on time. The retired generals saw a huge potential in expanding ROK-US defense industry cooperation for mutual benefits. Gen. Sharp said, "All of the vehicles, all of the equipment (of Hanwha), are absolutely top-rated, and I do believe that the United States and the Republic of Korea are not just because of our strong alliance, but it would be a great benefit for us to partner together and have these great vehicles as part of our fleet." Gen. Abrams acknowledged the excellent capability of the K9 and K10 artillery package, saying "I think American artillery manufacturers can learn a lot (from the K9), especially the fire control system and the support vehicle. It’s important how it provides protected transfer of ammunition. Hanwha has signed two MoUs with U.S. industry partners at AUSA to collaborate on advanced defense technologies. - Hanwha Defense USA (HDUSA)and BlueSpace signed an agreement to collaborate on the integration of thr latter's robust autonomous software solutions into Hanwha's cutting-edge combat vehicles. - Team Hanwha (Hanwha Aerospace, HDUSA, Hanwha Defense Australia) singed an agreement with Ultra Intelligence & Communications to integrate the latter's C2 systems into Hanwha's K239 Chunmoo MRLS. Hanwha Aerospace and Hawha Defense USA (HDUSA) hosted the 'K-Defense' Media Forum on Oct. 10 at the Army and Navy Club in Washington, D.C. In conjunction with thr annual AUSA exhibition, the media roundtable was designed to share the insights on the strategic importance of South Korea-U.S. defense industry cooperation amid the fast-changing security environment, as well as to share Hanwha's business strategy and technology contributing to the U.S. industrial base. Dr. Yu Jihoon, a senior research fellow at the Korea Institute for Defense Analyses (KIDA), the state defense think tank in South Korea, shared his views on ways to strengthen bilateral collaboration in the defense industry, including the MRO services for U.S. naval vessels. Mike Smith, President and CEO of HDUSA, discussed Hanwha's strategy to support U.S. DoD and industry partners, highlighting the technologies Hanwha can offer, which include the advanced long-range self-propelled howitzer, uncrewed transport robotic vehicle, and modular charge system.
