🇺🇬 Uganda’s third Voluntary National Review Report for 2024 is out! This report highlights our progress towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This review, presented at the #HLPF2024, reflects on our achievements, challenges, and the path forward. The VNR process, spearheaded by the Government of Uganda through the SDG Secretariat at the Office of the Prime Minister, involved a comprehensive and inclusive approach. To accelerate Zambia's socioeconomic development and improve livelihoods, the African Development Bank's 2024-2029 Country Strategy Paper (CSP) prioritizes two key areas: fostering private sector growth through infrastructure investments and strengthening the #agricultural value chain. Sat on a Panel on SP financing as part of 2024 Malawi Social Protection Week; on behalf of the WB, i discussed how the Malawi Social Protection MDTF has laid the foundation towards harmonizing sector financing. Going forward the sector needs to come up with a sustainable financing framework that recognizes the financing realities/ challenges. 👀 NEW POLICY BRIEF FOR KENYA: In this policy brief we discuss the impacts of #charcoal bans and restrictive supply-side legislations in hashtag #Kenya, highlighting how livelihood producers are disproportionately impacted by them. The brief was written by Rebecca Clube, Emmanuel Cyoy, Meron T., and Noah Mayieka. GDI-incubated Aceli Africa recently published a learning brief on Gender Inclusive Lending for Agriculture in Africa. Some key findings relevant for agricultural SMEs in East Africa include:   🚺 Women-owned businesses continue to struggle to access finance, but lenders are increasingly motivated to serve them. 💼 Women's ownership does not necessarily correlate with employing more women employees or purchasing a larger share of produce from women farmers. 📈 Demand from Aceli's lending partners for capacity building to support their #genderinclusion strategies has doubled in the past year.  🔎 While these trends are encouraging, sustained interventions are needed to ensure #genderlensinvesting is not a passing fad.
