Unlocking Africa's Potential with No-Code/Low-Code Solutions In today's fast-paced digital world, enterprises of all sizes are looking for ways to enhance their processes, cut costs, and drive innovation. For many organisations in Africa, particularly in the public sector, the journey towards digitisation is only just beginning. This presents a unique opportunity to leverage no-code/low-code software solutions to take substantial leaps forward. Here's how: Efficiency Boost through Rapid Development Traditional software development can be time-consuming and resource-intensive. No-code/low-code platforms allow non-technical staff to create and modify applications quickly. For instance, a local government department can build a citizen service portal in days instead of months, improving service delivery and response times. Significant Cost Savings With no-code/low-code, enterprises save on hiring extensive development teams and on prolonged project timelines. A public health organisation in Kenya deployed a no-code inventory management system, slashing costs by 60% compared to custom development and reducing wastage by ensuring real-time stock updates across clinics. Driving Innovation and Custom Solutions Empowering employees to create their own solutions fosters innovation. In Nigeria, a regional education authority utilized a low-code platform to develop a student performance tracking app, customizing it to meet local educational needs and significantly enhancing student outcomes. Flexibility and Scalability No-code/low-code solutions are inherently flexible, allowing organizations to scale their applications as needed. A startup in South Africa scaled its customer relationship management (CRM) system effortlessly as its customer base grew, without the need for extensive re-coding or infrastructure changes. Bridging the Skills Gap One of the key challenges in many African countries is the shortage of skilled developers. No-code/low-code platforms democratise application development, enabling employees without technical expertise to contribute to digital projects. This democratisation was evident when a Tanzanian municipality developed a community feedback app, engaging local staff in its creation and ongoing updates. Real-Life Impact: Public Sector Transformation In Rwanda, a pilot project using low-code applications transformed the workflow of a rural district's administrative processes, reducing paper usage by 90% and cutting processing times from weeks to days. The Road Ahead The potential for no-code/low-code solutions to revolutionize African enterprises is immense. By adopting these platforms, organizations can accelerate their digital transformation journey, making significant strides in efficiency, cost savings, and innovation. #DigitalTransformation #NoCode #LowCode #AfricaInnovation #Efficiency #CostSavings #PublicSector #Innovation #Technology #AfricaDigital

By bringing services closer to members through digital channels, such as mobile banking, agency banking, and Internet banking, SACCOs can minimize the need for physical branch visits and manual transactions.

McKinsey Africa
We are still buzzing from the excitement of the two McKinsey Africa Digital Summits in Johannesburg and Cape Town! The women in tech sessions, hosted by Mayowa Kuyoro, were highlights at both Summits. Our research shows that women hold about 14% of tech-related CXO roles in Africa's listed companies, with Nigeria and South Africa leading the way. This sparked lively discussions and robust engagement from executives, who shared recommendations on implementing DE&I training, supportive policies, leadership training, mentorship programs, and scholarships for tech education. It was empowering to see peers come together to discuss actionable solutions for a more inclusive tech industry. The data gathered from executives during this session will be included in our upcoming women in tech report. The report aims to delve deeper into the challenges and opportunities for women in the tech sector. #WomenInTech #McKinseyAfricaDigitalSummit #McKinseyAfrica #McKinseyDigital
