They say coffee makes the world go round—or at least helps us stay awake for the ride. But what happens when the humble bean becomes the star of a high-stakes showdown? Enter the Da Vinci Gourmet Barista Craft Championship, a caffeinated arena where artistry meets alchemy, and every sip tells a story.
At YDx Agency, we were beyond excited to partner with Da Vinci Gourmet, under the banner of Kerry Company, to conceptualize and execute this unique event, blending our passion for experiential storytelling with their mission to elevate the coffee craft. From selecting the perfect venue at the Hyatt Regency Westlands to designing a sensory journey that celebrated Kenya’s vibrant coffee culture, this event was truly a labor of love—and caffeine.
The Concept: Where Tradition Meets Innovation
This wasn’t just a competition. It was a journey through the flavors of DaVinci Gourmet Syrups and traditions of coffee, wrapped in a creative safari-themed experience. Think acacia trees, Kenyan bracelets, and even iconic matatu décor. The goal? To elevate the coffee-drinking experience, honor the rich heritage of the bean and offer a touch of Kenya.
A Brew-tiful Day Unfolds
The competition kicked off with ten elite baristas showcasing their skills in a battle of beans and steam.
Guests explored interactive zones, from coffee blind tastings to make-your-own-drink stations.
The day culminated in a glamorous gala dinner, complete with live music, a DJ, and inspired conversations about the future of coffee.

We had the incredible opportunity to bring the HMD Skyline to life in Kenya! This flagship device is packed with impressive features, from its stunning camera system to its sleek design and powerful performance.
Our event was a blast, with influencers, tech enthusiasts, and media all dressed up in their best Y2K-inspired outfits. Attendees got to experience firsthand the Skyline's capabilities, from its incredible camera quality to its long-lasting battery life. We made the launch memorable by incorporating exciting activities like painting the Skyline- get it?, AR gaming, makeup sessions for our guests and many picturesque spaces.

We had an incredible time relaunching the Garnier PureActive AHABHA Charcoal Serum in Mombasa with L'Oreal East Africa! Our event brought together a fantastic group of influencers, key partners, and dermatologists for a day of skincare education, networking, and celebration.
We were thrilled to train over 100 store owners and attendants on product knowledge and skincare sales techniques, ensuring they're equipped to provide expert advice to their customers. Our coastal launch for key partners and dermatologists was a huge success, fostering valuable connections and sharing insights.
To reach a wider audience, we hosted consumer activation events throughout Mombasa, engaging with locals and promoting the AHABHA serum, and as a special treat for our influencers, we enjoyed an unforgettable excursion on the Tamarind Sunset Dhow.
