About us
The International Planned Parenthood Federation Africa Region (IPPFAR) is the leading sexual and reproductive health (SRH) service delivery organization in Africa, and the leading sexual and reproductive health and rights advocacy voice in the region. Headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, the overarching goal of IPPFAR is to increase access to SRHR services to the most vulnerable youth, men and women in sub-Saharan Africa. Supported by thousands of volunteers, IPPFAR tackles the continent’s growing sexual and reproductive health challenges through a network of Member Associations (MAs) in 42 countries. We do this by developing our MAs into efficient entities with the capacity to deliver and sustain high quality, youth focused and gender sensitive services. We work with governments, the African Union, regional economic commissions, the Pan-African Parliament, United Nations bodies among others to expand political and financial commitments to sexual and reproductive health and rights in Africa. IPPFAR led advocacy for the creation of the first continental framework for sexual and reproductive health, the Maputo Plan of Action (MPOA).

🌍 Empowering Connections: A Call to End Gender-Based Violence (GBV) 💪 On November 25, 2024, we were honored to join the Empowering Connections of Feminist CSOs seminar, hosted by the French Embassy in Kenya as part of the 16 Days of Activism Against GBV. 🎗️ This impactful event brought together Feminist Opportunities Now (FON), PISCCA Decid’Her partners, and a dynamic network of organizations working tirelessly for gender equality and to combat GBV. 💜 A highlight was a powerful session on access to justice, led by the Wangu Kanja Foundation, a FON partner in Kenya. This discussion highlighted the barriers survivors face and innovative ways to ensure they get the support they deserve. Such events remind us: collaboration is key. Together, we learn, strategize, and renew our collective strength to create a world where women and girls thrive in safety and equality. 🌟 Big thanks to the French Embassy in Kenya and every partner who made this day meaningful.
