💡 Did you know that green nudges can significantly reduce the use of single-use cutlery? 📰 A 2023 study conducted in China by Guojun He and colleagues, using Alibaba’s Eleme food-delivery platform, revealed that food delivery apps can decrease single-use cutlery consumption simply by changing the default option from “with cutlery” to “no cutlery.” The app also rewarded customers with “green points” for choosing the no-cutlery option. 🌳 This simple and almost inconspicuous app-interface change led to a remarkable 648% increase in no-cutlery orders! Additionally, Alibaba’s business performance remained unaffected by these green nudges. The researchers estimate that if these nudges were implemented nationwide in China, “more than 21.75 billion sets of single-use cutlery (SUC) could be saved annually”—equivalent to saving 5.44 million trees and preventing the production of 3.36 million metric tons of plastic waste! Imagine the global implications of this finding! 🌍 ➡️ Full article: https://lnkd.in/giqCFUzr 💡 Why should enterprises, app developers, and policymakers care? To grasp the stark realities of plastic waste and its lifecycle, consider joining The Plastic Collage workshop, dedicated to uncovering the world of plastic pollution. We also offer other popular sustainability workshops, such as Climate Fresk, The Biodiversity Collage, and 2Tonnes. Big thanks to La Fresque du Climat, the amazing non-profit association behind the Climate Fresk, for this feature about our recent giant session in Tokyo! #climatefresk #japan #cop29
🇯🇵 In Tokyo, the largest Climate Fresk session ever organized in Japan brought together over 130 participants and facilitators! 💫 This large-scale event was successfully held in Tokyo a few days ago: a giant Climate Fresk workshop organized as part of AlterCOP 29, a series of events in Asia taking place in parallel with COP29. 20 groups came together during the day at Université de Tokyo to learn more about climate issues. 👏 A great round of applause to all the volunteers who made the event possible! Thanks also to the collectives behind this great initiative: UTokyo GXSN, クライメートフレスク - Climate Fresk Japan and Ichigo Bloom, a collective of facilitators for several workshops on environmental issues. 🌏 Climate Fresk is active all over the world! Check out our schedule of workshops in over 160 countries right here 👉 https://lnkd.in/g3ZubBPi And if you'd like to join our international community of volunteers and become a facilitator yourself, find out more on our website 👉 https://lnkd.in/gc3N8q-m 📸 ©Ichigo Bloom #ClimateFresk #Japan #Tokyo #workshop

🎀Hello Kitty is here with an urgent wake-up call: it’s time to act for net-zero climate action in Japan! This charming video from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Japan highlights the nation’s commitment to the Paris Agreement, tackling issues like heavy rainfall, droughts, floods, and biodiversity loss. It’s a strong reminder of why climate awareness is crucial! 💡 The Good: The video creatively outlines the climate challenges we face while emphasizing Japan’s pledge to a greener future. ⛈️ The Bad: The spotlight shifts heavily toward reliance on technology, technical cooperation, and financing green projects abroad, even as Japan’s economy remains carbon-intensive. We need a more balanced approach that prioritizes sustainable action both at home and beyond. ☀️ The Takeaway: It’s a positive step, but let’s not lose sight of the urgent work needed within Japan. Together, we can build momentum for meaningful change 🦋🌳 Start by bringing sustainability workshops to your community! Contact us to broaden your knowledge about climate change through Climate Fresk, Biodiversity Collage, 2Tonnes, and more. The original MOFA video is here: https://lnkd.in/gv3iWhu8 #sustainabilityworkshop #climatechange #parisagreement #Japan #tokyo #netzero #carbonfree

🌍 A question we sometimes hear in our workshops in Japan: why people in Europe seem to care more about sustainability? 📺 It's never easy to reply, as there are many factors at play. However, one difference is the involvement of the media. The video below, a 7-minutes feature about the planetary boundaries, was broadcasted this week on the occasion of COP29 by France's number one TV channel, TF1, watched every day by millions of people. 💡 All the speakers in the video are top personalities from this channel, making the content more relatable than if it was delivered by unknown scientists. The content itself is based on scientific reports, especially the work of the Stockholm Resilience Centre about our planet's boundaries. 🗾 Japanese media, let's work together in the same direction! For starters, we'd love to organize a Planetary Boundaries Fresco, the latest workshop added to Ichigo Bloom's menu, for your journalists and collaborators. Contact us! #sustainabilityeducation #media #cop29 #planetaryboundaries
