Develops and motivates subordinates and contract growers and provides recommendations for new management practices, programs.
Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities Maintains contact with field representatives to provide ongoing support in development of personal job skills, (disease diagnosis, communication with growers, understanding of management programs and proper documentation).
Provides training to new Flock Supervisor in understanding the management program, disease identification, drug dispensing, record keeping, flock settlements for proper payment, and proper communication methods with growers.
Intercedes as necessary with Flock Supervisors and growers to maintain a positive working relationship between growers and company and informs management of any unresolved problems.
Investigates disease problems and coordinates veterinarian recommendations to implement vaccination and clean-up programs.
Reviews Flock Supervisors weekly service reports to identify specific needs or support.
Maintains periodic contact with growers to assess working relationship with field representatives, health of flocks, and to aid as needed.
Checks weekly settlements to ensure proper payment to growers and accuracy of Flock Supervisors in proper settlement documentation.
Corrects errors prior to flock settlements.
Prepare for, and participate in, periodic audits of various designs and purposes.
Assume the duties of subordinates due to vacations or sick leave.
Offer suggestions to production manager for upgrades to facilities that will provide improvements to quality and cost.
Perform annual evaluations of subordinates to stimulate improved performance.
Provides suggestions to be incorporated in the company’s production performance goals.
Directly supervises Flock Supervisors.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities including interviewing and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Other duties and work details as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to prepare reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Valid Drivers License required.
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university with an emphasis on studies of Poultry Science; or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands Lift, handle, load, and unload supplies and materials up to 50 pounds Maneuver on foot onto and through farms: Through flocks of turkeys that may exceed 50 pounds in weight Will include walking on outside surfaces that may be slippery due to inclement weather.
Turkey houses with uneven litter surfaces, which may also be slippery.
Climb/descend steps entering/exiting turkey houses, stepping over feedline equipment.
Physically handling turkeys up to approximately 50 pounds for examination, inspection, blood collection, etc.

Operation of company vehicle traveling to and from farms to conduct business.
