  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Development Studies, Marketing or Development Economics).

  • Proven experience in grant writing, research project management, and proposal development.

  • Strong understanding of national and international funding sources.

  • Experience in Budget preparation & strong skill in Quantitative research for assessment. 

Responsibilities & Context

Job Context: The Grant Officer (Research) will play an important role in securing research and project grants for SIMEC. This position requires strategic planning, bidding for national and international grants, and ensuring the successful implementation of funded projects.

Job Responsibilities:·        

  • Lead the development and coordination of national and international research grant programmes, ensuring alignment with SIMEC's objectives·        
  • Prepare and submit competitive bids for research, consultancy, training, capacity building, evaluation, monitoring, and assessment project grants·        
  • Monitor funded projects to ensure they are being implemented according to plan and that the allocated budget is utilized within the terms of the awarded grant·        
  • The position operates under a target-based contract, requiring strong focus on securing grant awards and meeting project goals·        
  • Maintain regular communication with grant stakeholders, including donors, partners, and project teams, ensuring timely updates and transparent reporting.·        
  • Ensure all grant-funded projects comply with financial, legal, and operational guidelines, conducting audits when necessary·        
  • Work closely with internal teams to provide guidance on grant management and support the development of team capacity in grant proposal development and project execution·        
  • Communicating on behalf of the International Research Center of SIMEC Institute of Technology
