Celebrating Leadership in Primary Health Care (PHC) Across Nigeria: PHC Leadership Challenge Fund Gala and Award Night Mindset was honored to contribute to the PHC Leadership Challenge Fund (PHC LCF 2.0) Gala and Award Night, held on December 12, 2024. Organized by the Nigeria Governors' Forum Secretariat (NGF) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), and supported by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Aliko Dangote Foundation and UNICEF Nigeria, this event celebrated the remarkable achievements of state governments in strengthening PHC systems across Nigeria. As the Independent Verification Agent (IVA), Mindset generated data that guided the selection of the 12 winning states. Using the Performance Monitoring Framework 2.0 (PMF 2.0), we: ✅ Conducted rigorous data collection at 1,098 facilities across 36 states and the FCT. ✅ Engaged 26,971 respondents to assess client satisfaction, facility functionality, and service delivery. ✅ Applied a transparent and validated scoring methodology to ensure fairness and accuracy. 🏆 Why Anambra State Stood Out: Anambra State, led by Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, emerged as the Best Overall State and Best in Southeast Zone, earning $1.2 million for excelling in: ✅High levels of client satisfaction with PHC services. ✅Significant progress in reducing maternal, under-five, and neonatal mortality rates. ✅Availability of skilled birth attendants and functional PHC facilities. The gala highlighted the power of leadership, healthy competition, and data-driven decisions in improving healthcare outcomes. We extend our congratulations to all the winning states for their dedication to strengthening PHC systems and improving the lives of communities across Nigeria. Strengthening Primary Health Care in Nigeria: The PHC Leadership Challenge Fund Mindset is proud to partner with UNICEF Nigeria as the independent verification agent (IVA) for the Primary Health Care Leadership Challenge Fund (PHC-LCF), an initiative designed to address leadership gaps, improve accountability, and catalyze progress toward Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Nigeria. With a team of 130 MEL officers and supervisors, we conducted comprehensive data collection and verification visits across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Our work supports the PHC Performance Monitoring Framework (PHC-PMF) by: ✅ Developing verification tools to measure key indicators. ✅ Conducting in-person verification at health facilities and state ministries. ✅ Analyzing and scoring data to ensure accuracy and transparency. ✅ Producing the annual verification report, the sole data source for awarding over $7 million in performance-based funds to national and regional winners. Through three rigorous rounds of verification, Mindset has provided actionable insights into critical gaps in Nigeria’s PHC system, highlighting opportunities for improvement and driving data-based decision-making. 👉 Learn more about our work and the PHC-LCF initiative: https://bit.ly/3DhHRdv #PrimaryHealthcare #Nigeria #HealthResearch

🔍 Project Spotlight: #Gaza Education Facility #Mapping Mindset, in partnership with Dexis Consulting Group and the @Ministry of Education in Palestine, assessed the destruction of #school #infrastructure in Gaza and address the humanitarian challenges faced by displaced families sheltering in these facilities and the possibility of accommodating educational needs post-conflict. Why It Matters: 🏫 Schools in Gaza have transitioned from places of learning to vital shelters, with over 60% currently housing displaced families. 📊 Our work fills critical information gaps, providing data to inform post-conflict recovery and stabilization efforts. 🚀What We’re Doing: 🏫 Visiting schools in Gaza to assess structural integrity and living conditions. 📑 Documenting sanitation, water supply, and health hazards. 💬 Conducting interviews and focus group discussions #FDGs with displaced individuals to capture stories of resilience, coping strategies, and community needs. 💻 Developing a #PowerBI dashboard and comprehensive report to ensure accessible and actionable findings for stakeholders. Looking Ahead: This project is a step toward recovery and stability in Gaza. By combining on-the-ground assessments with innovative data tools, we aim to contribute to a more informed, compassionate response to the humanitarian crisis. 👉 Keep updated as we continue this critical work: https://bit.ly/49BmRdv #GazaMapping #HumanitarianAid #ActionableInsights

We are proud to be part of DIGNITY's Zarqa Violence Study, set to launch tomorrow, 11 December 2024. Conducted by our team, the study explores the root causes, typologies, prevalence, and drivers of violence in Zarqa Governorate, and examines referral structures for addressing violent incidents. By offering actionable recommendations and detailed insights, the study equips stakeholders with the knowledge to address critical issues such as bullying and child marriage. This collaborative effort marks a vital step toward understanding and mitigating violence in the community. Special thanks to our project manager, Alaa Othman, who has led this project with dedication and expertise. 🙏
We're excited to launch the Zarqa Violence Study tomorrow. Arabic and English versions are available. It took a whole year of hard work from everyone. The study presents comprehensive findings that shed light on a range of socio-economic issues related to violence and its different types. These findings include an analysis of safety, community trust, and social capital, as well as a review of the manifestations and types of violence, such as bullying, child marriage, tribal violence, and honor killings. The study examines perpetrators and victims of violence, causes and risk factors associated with violence, reporting patterns, help-seeking behaviors, and retribution behaviors. In addition, the study provides practical recommendations based on the findings and discusses the observations of the validation workshop. Many many thanks to everyone who contributed to this work our partners: Mindset - Data, Insight, & Action , NAYA Community Network Thair Alkiswani & Rafat Badran. Also thanks to my colleagues in DIGNITY' s Jordan office the maestro Hala Jaghbeer and Rahaf Odeh and from HQ Ane Kirstine Viller Hansen and Sophie Louwersheimer and Finn Kjærulf.
