🎥 #Repost from Blue Lagoon Tours on Instagram. Getting ready to set sail 🇯🇲 🎣 #DidYouKnow that all vessels operating in Jamaican waters are required to be registered. Only registered vessels may engage in Local Trade in Jamaican Waters. Local Trade is any activity in which the vessel is used, to generate revenue (whether directly or indirectly). Registration of a vessel in Jamaica, ascribes to it a Jamaican nationality. The vessel must then fly the Jamaica Flag. Want to learn more about the ships the MAJ registers? We love to see yachts flying the Jamaican flag, 🇯🇲 but #didyouknow that The Jamaica Ship Registry (JSR) will register all eligible ships in the interest of any qualified owner submitting an application for registration providing the application can fulfil the requirements of the Shipping Act, 1998? Visit www.maritimejamaica.com to learn more about yacht registration!

As part of our on-going commitment to the education and health of our staff, as well as the broader cause of Breast Cancer Awareness, Maritime Authority of Jamaica held a seminar with its staff, inviting Breast Cancer Survivor - Jodie A Nephew to share her experience, symptoms and her journey as a survivor. Jodie Nephew is 40 years old, and from St. Elizabeth. She is a three-year breast cancer survivor. She is very passionate about spreading awareness regarding the mental health journey of survivors. The Maritime Authority of Jamaica is always proud to stand in solidarity with the fight against Breast Cancer. Today we celebrate the lives of those who have overcome this illness, and the lives of those who fought and are fighting bravely. #breastcancerawareness #MaritimeAuthorityJa

Maritime Authority of Jamaica honored Mr. Richard Ramsay, the oldest living seafarer in Jamaica, in a commemoration of World Maritime Day at the Illumination Ceremony of the building that houses the MaJ offices in Downtown Kingston. Mr. Richard Ramsay has a long history of travel, teaching, mentorship, and excellence. His extended tenure at @caribbeanmaritimeuniversity stretched from the university’s time as Jamaica Maritime Training Institute, then Jamaica Maritime Institute, right up to when it became known as the Caribbean Maritime Institute and lastly, the Caribbean Maritime University. Maritime Authority of Jamaica salutes Mr. Ramsay’s contribution to the maritime industry in Jamaica. #MaritimeAuthorityJa #JamaicanSeafarer #RichardRamsay #Jamaica
