😐 Are you losing your job because of the European elections? It's a small but important part of the EU election story: a large number of staff in the European institutions, mainly at the European Parliament, will see their contracts come to an end and find themselves unemployed. These staff can receive a specific EU unemployment benefit after the end of their contract, but there is a procedure to follow. If you are staying in Brussels, you should quickly register as a jobseeker with Actiris and contact the unemployment insurance admnistration CAPAC. 📩 The CAPAC has set up a dedicated email inbox for these requests, which will be open for three months only: [email protected] The CAPAC will give you a certificate confirming that you are not eligible for Belgian unemployment benefits. This will enable you to apply for unemployment insurance via the EU system. Experience from previous legislatures has shown that these procedures are not always easy, especially as they take place during the summer holidays when the services are in turnaround. In order to get everything ready in advance and make this transition as smooth and efficient as possible, CAPAC has published a brochure in English and French!
