Floridi is the chair of Yale’s Digital Ethics Center (DEC), and all of his books from his 30-year career were used to train the chatbot. All of the chatbot's answers include citations from his work. Created by a Yale University student and a high school student, "The developers believe it’s the first time a chatbot has been trained on an academic’s corpus of literature and released to the public for free." Motivation from Google right when I needed it. Reading through Dance of the Photons which explains different concepts of #quantum world. It is hard to understand and I am questioning my intelligence. 😁 Won’t give up because I do want to have an opinion on what is it, why is it important and what are the use cases. Many thanks to the 20 insightful, inspiring speakers who generously shared their expertise at the International News Media Association (INMA) Master Class on Generative AI. A couple of recurring themes through the Master Class, which featured examples across newsrooms, advertising, sales, customer service and other functions: --> Personalisation is a trend to watch, be it through audio, chat products, content versioning, in editorial content, or in advertising. --> GenAI often pays for itself, and experimenting has never been quicker or easier. Many of the projects were built within a matter of weeks and exceeded ROI expectations. The only way to do it is to get in there and do it. We are at the end of the hype cycle, as Kasper Lindskow said, and GenAI "is like gravity," as seiya shinhashi said – inevitable and ubiquitous. We have to learn to leverage it by picking the most valuable projects, as Uli Köppen and Aviral Mathur pointed out. Our own creativity and imagination are the only limit, as Alexandra-Irina Nicolae 🔥 and Vibhor Gandotra reminded us, and the uses that the speakers showed off proved this: Matt Headland, Siddhant Satsangi, Mio Kataoka Fabian Rosekeit, Thorge Schramm, Zach Seward, Florian Schiller, Pieter de Jong, Magnus Vestøl Helgesen, Nikita Roy, Jeremy Caplan, Nico Wilfer, Mike Pletch, David Cohn and Carmen Heger -- thank you very much. I came across an insightful article by McKinsey highlighting the expanding remit of CMOs and CGOs in shaping modern business strategies. It struck me that while these roles are becoming synonymous with driving growth and innovation, the path to CEO still predominantly favors those from COO backgrounds. This observation raises an important question: Are organizations underestimating the strategic contributions of leaders at the helm of Go-to-Market (GTM) efforts? The article also highlights a long-standing tension between brand and performance marketing, most recently often biased towards lower-funnel activities for immediate gains. However, the landscape is shifting—companies are beginning to recognize the essential balance needed between these approaches. Investing in brand-building isn't merely a "nice to have"; it strategically strengthens a brand's long-term position and enhances purchase consideration. The challenge for CMOs and CGOs is effectively quantifying our brand-building initiatives to align Private Equity boards, CFOs, and CEOs. By demonstrating brand value through measurable outcomes, we can bridge the gap between marketing strategies and executive priorities. Ultimately, brand equity is a crucial investment in purchase consideration, driving sustainable growth and providing a competitive advantage in the marketplace. I'm eager to hear thoughts on these topics.

I had a great discussion with Doron Avni, Google's VP for Government Affairs & Public Policy for the Emerging Markets Region, on how AI can reshape Latin America's economic future. In order to harness the full potential of AI, a comprehensive approach is needed including Infrastructure, people, technological innovation and enabling policies. Infrastructure: Investing in robust infrastructure, such as subsea cables and data centers, is essential People: Empowering people with AI skills is crucial. Google is providing 1 million scholarships for career certificates including AI Essentials so Latin Americans more and more Latin Americans can be included in this new era. Technological Innovation and modern data laws that allow data sharing while preserving privacy and security are key. Enabling Policies: Governments and business leaders need to create policies that support AI development and innovation. The potential impact in Latin America is significant, with GDP growth projected up to 5.4% by 2030. And this is already happening - this is not just the future, for example, in Rio de Janeiro, Google's Green Light project uses real-time data from Google Maps and AI to optimize traffic lights, reducing car stops and emissions. “Is this AI-generated?” is not the same as “Is this trustworthy?”. Though the two questions can overlap, additional context is often needed to empower informed decisions about what people see online. In this new report, we lay out how Google is thinking about how context (information about a piece of content from the open web) and provenance (information about how a piece of content was made, often from its creator) work together to assess trustworthiness online.
