After a day of EEG & TMS recording with our Italian master students. Giovanni Lombardi, Marco Fummo and Antonio Calzone the EPs look perfect 😍😍. First row: active g.LADYbird electrodes; second row: passive g.MOUSE electrodes; third row: active g.MOUSE electrodes; fourth row: easycap TMS electrodes (c-shaped). The Italians placed 18 electrodes on my head, applied the TMS stimulus on C1, and recorded the EEG data with g.HIamp. The recording lasted 1 minute, and the results are outstanding. Wondering why? The exciting part is that we spent about 2 years developing active TMS electrodes and a TMS breakout box for active electrodes, and today everything just worked seamlessly. In the picture, you can see there is essentially no difference between the passive electrodes and the active electrodes 😍😍😍. However, there is one major advantage of the active electrodes: assembling the EEG electrodes is much quicker, and we don't have to abrade the skin. This is a significant benefit for TMS recordings, as prepping a patient or subject with passive electrodes often takes a full hour. With the new active electrodes, we can do this within a few minutes. Another important difference is that we use g.GAMMAgel, which is invisible, odorless, non-sticky, and disappears after some time. Abrasive gel, on the other hand, is itchy, often breaks the skin, leads to skin irritations, and requires a hair wash. Another important factor for EEG TMS recordings is that the electrode is very thin, allowing the coil to be closer to the brain area. This reduces the intensity of the magnetic stimulus compared to a longer distance. That's why we developed the g.MOUSE electrode. It has an Ag/AgCl pellet and is super thin, yet contains all the electronic components for a proper active electrode. The image shows that the waveform compares exactly to the passive TMS electrodes 😍😍😍. To summarize: this innovation will make TMS experiments quicker and lead to better results because the experiment is already finished before a passive EEG electrode experiment can even begin. This makes the process less demanding for the patient and personnel, resulting in better clinical and scientific outcomes 😍. Just think of new pathways such as the development in the short term of remote diagnostics via 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵, the need for radiology physicians for a second opinion or review away from the reporting room, the growing supply of 𝟯𝗗 𝗺𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟯𝗗 𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘆𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀 (9 out of 10 radiology centers), the need for 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄 given the volume of examinations, and the 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗜. 🫀💡Very intriguing #cardiac innovation presented at this years European Society of Cardiology (ESC) congress this past weekend in London. With over 30K in attendance this year, the 2024 ESC Congress highlighted advancements across an array of cardiac related disease states from Afib, #peripheral & #aortic disease, #coronary syndromes, as well as elevated BP and #hypertension. Continuing to see a significant interest and #investment into the infusion of #robotics and #AI toward improved precision patient care including, LOLA, an AI enabled virtual clinical assistant offering automated TAVR patient follow up interviews to detect post procedure complication being studied at the Dr. Balmis General Hosptial in Alicante, Spain. Another on display was long distance remote robotic assisted #echocardiograms (ECG) as researchers out of Zhongshan Hospital utilize low latency capabilities of 5G communication networks to provide remote ECG over 20KM away.
