COMAU JOINS THE H2IT ASSOCIATION TO SUPPORT THE HYDROGEN SUPPLY CHAIN WITH ITS AUTOMATION EXPERTISES AND TECHNOLOGIES Grugliasco (Turin) – June 26, 2024 – With the aim of accelerating and making hydrogen more effective as a clean energy carrier, Comau has joined H2IT (Italian Hydrogen Association), providing technologies, knowledge, and support for the large-scale integration of dedicated, innovative and advanced technologies. H2IT is made up of a heterogeneous group of realities active in the hydrogen industry sector, comprising research centers and universities, small and medium-sized enterprises and large organizations, technology clusters and local authorities, and representing the Italian supply chain of the sector in Europe. Thanks to its experience in the field of renewable energies, in multiple industrial sectors, Comau will work closely with companies that are part of H2IT, promoting the implementation of automation solutions for the production of electrolysers and fuel cells. Yesterday, Nidec Conversion and Y3K teamed up in Alessandria to present the first Smart e-Mobility Solution project, which aims to make logistics facilities, fleet parks, and electric vehicle charging services sustainable and energy self-sufficient. Alexandria's logistics HUB, in fact, along with those in Biella and Vercelli, is part of Y3K and Nidec Conversion's multifunctional platform pilot project, thus officially inaugurating the first 6 months of activity of the Smart eMobility Solution. This innovation was born from the joint vision of Y3K and Nidec, and adds an important milestone to the technology development path for the energy transition, and we are very proud to be able to share the results of our progress. Smart eMobility Solution aims to make the logistics facility more sustainable and self-sufficient from 9 to 12 months per year, thanks to #solar energy storage, and to date in the three sites in operation, about 500 MWh has been generated and managed, allowing commercial vehicles to travel 823,000 km with #zeroemissions, compared to the 626 tons of CO2 that would have been lost to the environment by fossil fuel engines. Y3K and Nidec Conversion aim to support companies in moving toward a greener future by promoting a more efficient use of renewable energy sources. BATTERY TECHNOLOGY: Comau commits to EU project to improve battery cell production Comau is collaborating on the BATTwin project, an EU initiative focused on e-mobility, to enhance the quality of battery cell production. “Comau’s #electrification strategy is founded upon innovative ideas and the continuous research and development of next-generation #batterytechnologies, cell formation competencies and alliances with pan-European partners and organizations, such as Upcell,” explained Daniela Fontana, Comau’s battery innovation manager.
