Zcube - Zambon Research Venture announces the fifth edition of Open Accelerator, the international acceleration program for high-potential innovative startups in the field of life sciences. Starting this year, the program will focus on the femtech sector and will feature a new format. The initiative, one of the first internationally in terms of focus and invested capital, invites startups and entrepreneurial ideas aimed at developing products and services to address major medical needs and improve women's health and well-being. The targeted therapeutic areas include gynecology, cardiovascular health, oncology, sexual health, endocrinology, gastroenterology, nutrition, autoimmune disorders, mental health, neurology, reproductive health, and more. The Call for application are open until June 16. At the end of the selection process, up to 5 startups will be identified to receive an investment of €100,000 each, through a SAFE (Simple Agreement for Future Equity) agreement and will have access to a training and mentoring program delivered by experts in the fields of investments, business development, venture capital, intellectual property, regulatory affairs, and market access. The European car industry has profited from consolidation with M&A lead by Volkswagen Group and recently with Stellantis (owned by the Agnelli family through Exor N.V. with 14.90 %, the Peugeot family with 7.435 %, Bpifrance with 6.390 %, CPR Asset Management with 2.843 %, Vanguard with 2.779 %, The Ayco Co. LP with 2.498 %, J.P. Morgan with 1.642 %, Dongfeng Automobile Co., Ltd. with 1.632 %, Arrowstreet Capital, Limited Partnership with 1.535 % and Banca d'Italia with 1.226 %). Today ConocoPhillips has agreed to acquire Marathon Oil Corporation in an all-stock deal valued at $22.5bn, including debt. This acquisition marks the latest in a series of megadeals reshaping the US oil industry. We are pleased to announce that Alantra’s strategic partner Asabys Partners, a pan-European VC firm focused on investments in the life sciences and healthcare sectors, has closed the Sabadell Asabys Health Innovation Investments II (SAHII II) fund with €180mn in commitments, surpassing its €150mn target. The fund will invest in 12-15 companies across biopharma, medtech, and digital health, focusing on unmet medical needs and improving patient outcomes. Asabys is part of Alantra's specialized pan-European Venture Capital strategy, which has over €400mn in AuM. This strategy also includes 33N Ventures and its cybersecurity fund 33N, which is on track to reach its €150mn target size and invests in cybersecurity and infrastructure software companies across Europe, Israel, and the US, as well as Klima Energy Transition Fund, a €210mn VC fund which takes minority stakes in high-growth companies focused on energy transition.
