Addressing these challenges requires a multifaceted approach involving all the stakeholders, sustainable planning, efficient resource management, innovative solutions, and modern technologies. Like other modern technologies, social media informatics also plays its part in developing more sustainable and resilient cities and societies. Despite its limitations, social media informatics has proven very effective in various sustainable cities and society applications. In this paper, we review and analyze the role of social media informatics in sustainable cities and society by providing a detailed overview of its applications, associated challenges, and potential solutions. How to design Open Innovation Contests💡 - a thread. #0: PROLOGUE A few months ago, together with Federico Frattini, Simone Franzò, Angelo Natalicchio and Luca Mion we authored a paper on #Technovation, shedding light on our approach to designing and activating open innovation contests/challenges at HIT - Hub Innovazione Trentino. (SPOILER - the process mirrors that of developing a new product/service: you need to employ a set of innovation management methods and practices to progress from initial scattered ideas to a tangible, marketable outcome). The paper is rich in insights tailored for innovation management practitioners and leaders willing to launch programs to foster open innovation and facilitate knowledge/technology transfer at a regional level. Having supported over 100 companies and public administrations in innovating with external partners over a span of 7 years through our challenges, it's worth unpacking a bit the contents of this paper for broader dissemination. I’ll be breaking down its essence into 10 posts over the next 10 days - or so...
