What a blast at our Shades & Shine Homecoming Celebration with Fashion & Beauty Expert and Howard alumna Blake Newby! We kicked off Howard University’s Homecoming Weekend at our Georgetown location with an evening of shopping, music, glam, and treats from Black-owned and Howard alumni businesses.   Special thanks to First and Last PR, a women and minority-owned agency, for bringing it all together. Howard alumna DJ Brooks W., aka DJ Soul Sugar Joint, set the mood with her music. Chef Anthony Thomas provided hors d'oeuvres, Mocktail Club served drinks, and Everybody Water supplied sustainable water. Guests enjoyed beauty products from The Lip Bar Inc., makeup by Taylor Simpson, and captured moments by LaVan Anderson.   #AlwaysInTheSun

Hispanic and Latinx Heritage Month is a time to celebrate the many contributions of Hispanic and Latinx cultures to our society. During this month, we connected with our Store Manager at our Canada store, Yamia Soto, who shared her thoughts around this holiday. Yamia shared how this holiday influences them personally and highlighted key events and achievements that have shaped their history and culture. “I celebrate my Latin heritage daily by cooking Cuban traditional meals for my family and friends that were passed down through generations. I try to keep my cultural alive by taking part and celebrating any cultural festival being held nearby. I want to celebrate the Sunglass family because all you have insured that I've never felt unseen, unheard, or unappreciated.”
