The timber frame construction system is historically related to construction in the English-speaking world, but is now becoming popular across continental Europe. This sports centre in Maribor, Slovenia, is built entirely with this system, which enables faster construction and simplifies transportation. The load-bearing structures made of a frame of struts filled with insulating material and stiffened with OSB panels, were fastened with TBS, HBS and LBA. WBR and WHT angle brackets complete the plan for building stability. In Querétaro, Mexico, the Rothoblaas branch needed new space – a natural part of growth. And for a company like ours, it was naturally fitting to choose timber as the primary construction material.   With on-site support from the team at Riparia Mx, Rothoblaas’ technical staff developed the country’s first building featuring load-bearing walls made of CLT. Designed by the Nesta Projetos e Construções architectural firm and built by Casacom Madeira, "Mozzaffiato - breathtaking" is a structure with a name that is a guarantee. Constructed using a hybrid of timber and steel, with special technical solutions to curve the Glulam beams, this house in Nova Pádua, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, faced an additional challenge: protecting timber from moisture. But how did the Rothoblaas membranes match with Mozzaffiato’s needs and special climate? Ten years ago, we took a chance on #Canada, a key market for timber construction. Since opening Rothoblaas Canadian subsidiary, we’ve expanded with dedicated logistics and a local team that continues to evolve, as evidenced by the opening of the present warehouse in Québec in 2023. My initial trips in 2012 were to test the waters, alongside Antonio Lo Conte, who had been a manager in the region for many years, and the potential was already remarkable. During the last travels I’ve seen how North America keeps making timber a cornerstone of construction, with over 700 mass timber buildings realized per year and a market projected to reach $2.4 billion by 2035. We’ve tackled complex technical challenges, such as #ICC-ES certification for our high-performance screws, consistently combining technical development with market presence. This experience has allowed us to establish a strong foothold in one of the most dynamic sectors, working closely with architects, engineers, and builders to meet their specific needs. This 10th anniversary of our Canadian subsidiary is an achievement that wouldn’t have been possible without the commitment and dedication of our Canadian team, Hannes Blaas, François-Laurent Chabot, Carsten Schwark, Yann Paré. Every project, every challenge overcome, every strengthened partnership is a result of those who work tirelessly to advance our vision. Ten years of growth is just the beginning. We look to the future with the resolve to continue supporting the timber industry, confident that our role will only grow in the years to come. You won’t see this application often, and we’re sure it will inspire even more ambitious construction solutions: PORR Group used DISC FLAT in an innovative way to connect the Glulam columns of this project in Vienna with the concrete beams, presenting a striking example of hybridization. The floors in this project also feature both materials, further proving how the future of construction is increasingly tied to the fusion of different elements. Anche i solai in questo progetto sono presenti in entrambi i materiali, a riprova di come il progresso della costruzione sia ormai legato a doppio filo al concetto di fusione di diversi elementi.
