Podere La Pace nel cuore della Maremma Toscana Il Podere La Pace prende origine in un contesto di rara e naturale bellezza, nel cuore della Maremma Toscana, un angolo di un paesaggio bucolico intatto circondato dalla macchia mediterranea e da olivi centenari. Qui, abbiamo deciso di piantare cinque ettari di vigneto, rispettando la disposizione del territorio e la conformazione naturale del suolo. La Pace rappresenta l’ambizione di creare qualcosa di nuovo ed eccezionale. Partendo da un lotto speciale di terra dove non c’era niente, abbiamo creato un meraviglioso vigneto, una cantina di classe mondiale, un fantastico vino. Abbiamo sfruttato la ricchezza e l’unicità della natura locale, nello spirito della semplicità ed eccellenza, ispirandoci all’anima del patrimonio storico e culturale della Toscana.

Cabernet Franc As you may know the La Pace vineyards were established in 2011, with a strong belief in the potential of Cabernet Franc, our flagship wine. Let me tell you more about this amazing grape variety and wine. Recent studies from the University of California in Davis found that the probable birthplace of Cabernet Franc is the Basque region, in Spain. The study found that in the 17th century this vine was planted already in Bordeaux and in the Loire region of France (where today it represents the main variety). Cabernet Franc likely arrived in Tuscany already in the 18th century through the influence of French viticultural practices, along with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and it expanded through the 19th century, although it was only during the second part of the 20th century that it took off as a world-class Tuscan variety, thanks to some visionary wine makers, particularly in the area of Bolgheri. Cabernet Franc plays a fundamental role as the father of other important grape varieties: according to the studies of the University of California, Cabernet Franc is one of the genetic parents of Cabernet Sauvignon (along with Sauvignon Blanc), and of Merlot (along with Magdeleine Noire des Charentes, an obscure and ancient grape variety from Western France). Cabernet Franc is typically characterized by notes of red fruits such as raspberry and cherry, herbal elements like bell pepper and mint, as well as dried fruit and spices. But, of course, much depends on the regions and the so called “terroir”. Cabernet Franc is an adaptable vine to different climate areas, thus you can find excellent Cabernet Franc wines around the world, a wonderful opportunity to make comparisons and taste the differences. Over the last 50 years, the Tuscan Coast has emerged as one of the absolute best areas for Cabernet Franc, thanks to its unique conditions. La Pace is very proud of producing an outstanding Cabernet Franc, as recognized by several third party sources. Recently our wine has been included among the best 20 Cabernet Franc of Italy, see the link below: https://lnkd.in/daCmJiYf I am also proud of presenting to you, in preview, the new 2021 Silvano: the revisited label of the Silvano reflects a turning point for La Pace which, under the expert guidance of our Oenologist, Valentino Ciarla, has developed this wine into a genuine Cabernet Franc. Silvano presents an intense ruby red color, with garnet reflections; notes of wild berries, spicy and toasted sensations and black pepper at the nose, enriched by hints of ripe fruit and balsamic notes that resurface after every sips. On the palate, it is rich and enveloping, with dense, silky tannins; it exhibits great gustatory tension and long-lasting sensory persistence. The result is an elegant and powerful wine suitable for long aging.

A proposito di italianita' Con la sua solita acutezza, Massimo Gramellini nel suo “Caffe’” sul Corriere della Sera di oggi, sottolinea come sia becero affermare che i tratti somatici di una persona di colore non rappresentino l’italianita’. Per evitare il rischio che tale superficialita’ becera e demagogica, attribuita ad alcuni politici, possa contagiare altri, suggerirei a chiunque si trovi di fronte ad un becero razzista di sollevare la semplice domanda “cosa intende lei per italianita’, la puo’ definire?”. Per chi volesse disintossicarsi e assumere qualche vitamina di buon senso, suggerisco poi di scoprire la figura di Piero Bassetti e magari la lettura del suo libriccino “Svegliamoci, italici!”.
